England Permutations

Having beaten the might of the Swedes and sent the media into a frenzy of expectation raising, we may be left to rue Gerrard not getting a 4th at the death.

Should France handsomely beat Sweden (as seems inevitable) and if we get a draw/narrow win against Ukraine (big IF there), we finish second in the group as per usual.

This would leave us most likely facing Spain in the quarters, rather than Croatia or Italy, and should we make it through by some miracle it would probably be Ze Germans in the semis, as opposed to one of Czech Rep/Greece/Portugal/Denmark or Holland.

You have to beat someone good at some point to win the thing... may as well be sooner rather than later

The current champions and the probable champions is potentially a bit much.

We do this all the time, had we actually managed to win our group at World Cup 2010, we wouldn't have faced anyone of any real substance until the Semi's!

The bit that worries me is that the good news will be to face Croatia or Italy.

Of all England perms, Keegan's was the best.

A Keegan/Voller perm partnership would be an amazing strike force!
