England vs Switzerland.

Sun Sep 05, 2010 8:59 am

The Don's men travel to Berne to neutralise the Swiss.

Team to play 'em?

-------------------------------Hart--------------------------------

Johnson, G---Cahill-------------------------Jagielka---Cole, A

Milner-----------Gerrard------------Barry----------Johnson, A

-----------------------------Rooney-------------------------------

------------------------------Defoe-------------------------------

Milner over Walcott, due to the probable need to be a bit more defensive away from home.

1-0: Gerrard.

Agreed with Dawson's replacement I'd start with Walcott

What an absolutely superb performance, we kept the ball brilliantly and always looked dangerous.

Proves what muppets people were when they dismissed Capello.

Come off it mate!

Capello was FORCED to pick a more youthful team through injury in the last 2 games, and we can now see a massive improvement. Do you really think we would have played so up tempo and confident with Lampard, Terry, and Ferdinand in the team?

I think not

Let's hope there is no way back for Terry and Lampard.

Muppets?
We did the same in World Cup qualifying, looked like World beaters and when we got there we were rubbish.
I just hope history doesnt repeat itself.

You expect us "muppets" to have respect for a guy that continually played Heskey? Gerrard out of position? Had years, but went into a tournement not knowing who is best keeper was? The list is pretty endless.

The only reason he has changed the team because he was forced to through injuries, nothing else, he has been lucky in that respect.

If you honestly think Lescott and Jagielka are better than John Terry, well, you live on a different planet.

Maybe not individually, but better team players? Certainly. That was our whole problem in the summer - big time charlie pre-madonnas who BOTTLED it.

We have a brilliant, experienced manager ushering in a new era - and I am very excited. Watching Johnson and Milner (and Walcott) on the wings was superb. We kept the ball and look liked a team.

Have you got a new manager, named Capello since the World Cup?
That tournement proved he lost the plot. End of.

Johnson is not even in the starting 11, he only got on tonight because of Walcotts injury, so if the manager is that "brilliant", why wasnt he on from the start of both Bulgaria and Switzerland matches?

As I have said, the changers have been forced on Capello, thats the only reason Walcott, Milner, Lescott and Jagielka are in team!
If you honestly think different, you are kidding yourself.

Dont forget who we have played in last 2 matches! Not exactly world beaters are they?

What gets me is that Lampard and Terry may play for Chelsea at the weekend, just proves that they have no heart for England.

Lampard has done nothing at international level since 2004 hardly world class. JT got shown up a the World Cup and turned into a average player. I'm sorry Sheff but I think there time maybe up for them as starters.

I know this may be a daft question, but if your first statement was true (which its not), how come Lampard played the most minutes in English qualification matches for the World Cup?

Scored 13 England goals.
Which I believe is just 4 less than our great striker Rooney.

Honest question Sheff.

DO you think the performances recently have been much better without the massive ego's in the side ???

We looked more dangerous the last 2 games than we did in the last two years.

Kudos Don Fabio.

I think Terry will make it back because he just will. However, if Jagielka impresses, Dawson has a good time after his injury and then Lescott, Ferdinand and King can get time on the pitch, he should watch his back. Terry is the past.

Lampard... Hmm. Best players? He's one of the best at league form, but he's a bit of an Andrew Cole. But I'd certainly have him around the squad.
