Predicitons? i will go for 2-1 England.

The team i would go for with the squad postman pat has chosen:

Johnson-----Dawson------Jagielka--------Cole-

-------------Barry-----------Carrick--------------

Walcott-----------Gerrard--------------Johnson

--------------------Rooney------------------------

4 or 5 goal romp, with Rooney scoring a hat-trick and being hailed as the modern day answer to Pele, just add insult to the injury of the abysmal world cup fiasco.

Terry isn't playing. So at least we may get a well orchestrated line.

I can hardly register a mild interest to be honest.

I'll be watching, but I will probably be doing some reading or work. Gone are the days where I can bother to go to the pub and really support those players.

Pretty accurate - Defoe with the 3 in a romp home in the end.

Predictable and annoying.

And Rooney 'back to his best'

:x

England minus Lampard minus Terry plus Gerrard in the middle equals convincing win and clean sheet.
FACT.

Though Rooney was superb tonight playing the role he plays for his club coming from deep and running at defenders ,

Walcott did well on the right miles better than Lennon .

And played very well, to be fair. Mention also for Joe Hart, who made a couple of excellent reflex saves at key moments in the game. Good all round performance.
Looks like we've lost yet another centre half with Dawson's injury. Scott Dann for England? :)

It's a pity Cappello has only realised what the whole country knew about team selection, by injuries to his "main" players.

I wanted Joe Hart in goal, Adam Johnson and Walcott in the squad, Gerrard playing in his best position, youth with pace at the back instead of carthorse Terry, and they all happened last night due to injury.

I think we would have had a much better World Cup with the team that played last night!

I just hope last nights team is a regular thing from now on, and then things may be more promising

To be fair, he has never been a waster in any shirt. Possibly the only fella to come back from the WC with an even keel in terms of credit.
In a defence next to Terry, Upson and Johnson must've been terrifying. Their lack of positional sense, tendency to get dragged towards the ball and missing tackles shocked even me, and I only managed to get to Sunday league U16s and several 7-a-side joke teams.

Ashley Cole is world class at defending in a way that John Terry could only have wet dreams about.

Swifty, Walcott had a shite lead up to the WC, he was tame and his end product compared with mine. This season, however, he looks a lot more potent.

I'd have taken Johnson but not Walcott. I also think that Terry is in the squad because King, Woodgate and Ferdinand are all made of glass. If we had a full roster of centrebacks, he would make the squad as the Lucozade carrier.

If I was John Terry, I would send a letter of thanks and flowers to William Gallas, Ricardo Carvalho, Claude Makelele and Mikael Essien.

Almost certainly - although they were still exposed by the simple long ball.

I'll be pleased if we qualify, but the world cup bitterness will last a long time. :x

True about Walcott mate, but I'd still have taken him, purely for his pace and to provide something different.

As for Terry, I would hope that he has played his last game for England. Dawson was ten times the player Terry was in the months before the WC, yet he warmed the bench. Another crud Capello decision

Weren't Terry and Lampard involved in the qualifiers we breezed through last time? Doesn't really stand up that.

While I am all for moving on, fazing out the old, bringing in the new, what's the harm of having someone like Frank Lampard on the bench in future games? Nothing. Football is a squad game, and why not have a 22 goal a season midfielder on the bench? It daft to think otherwise i think.

People are shouting for the kids to come through and i look forward to seeing that happen but anyone who thinks we can just take out all those that failed so miserably at the W/C (and I am well within the camp that Ashley Cole was about our only real performer in South Africa) are deluded.

And sitting in Wembley on Friday night, during the second half, the one thing everyone in my area of the stand commented on was that in the second 45 Rooney was absolutely brilliant. 3 direct assists and one helping hand in the 1st.
He was class.

Its a shame Rooney couldn't use his helping hand himself. Cheaper than the alternatives he seeks (allegedly)
