England vs Platinum Stars

Mon Jun 07, 2010 1:23 pm

Risky business. Capello's said he will give his starting 11 atleast 45 mins each..
Apparently FIFA said its compulsary to play a friendly vs a local team, something to do with communities.
Very risky though.. I can see Rooney picking up an injury.
Our World Cup chances could look very different come 5pm..

The games is being shown on Sky Sports news ,it's nothing much more than a training session .

Half Time England 1-0 up

Only 1-0?
England should be about 20-0 up by now!
It's a disgrace. We'll never win the World Cup playing like that.
I'm off to slash my wrists! :(

:D

Heskey's missed a sitter , all the squad are getting a run out .
The commentators reckon Platinum are equivalent to a mid table championship side.

Perhaps your right Steve :?

Not watching the match but following BBC text at work. Looks like Rooney is being a knob and has now been booked.

I know this isn't a full international and players don't get capped for it, but if Rooney manages to get himself sent off, will FIFA find a way to suspend him from the opening WC game?

Joe Cole was the only player to play the whole game .

This is what pisses me off...

Football 365 have on their ticker "England ease to friendly victory" - fair enough, you'd think.

First line is "England won 3-0 in unconvincing fashion"

Make your fudging minds up!

Yep. I don't think it really mattered if we lost. What really mattered was that we didn't lose any other key players. 3-0, Unscathed, job done.

Mid table championship side is being kind to Platinum Stars. I would be dissapointed if Walsall could not beat them in a serious match. It is amazing that Rooney can get booked in a game such as this. The refereee has been on TV here stating he would have been sent off in a world cup match. Not sure if he is sensationalising it for his own publicity but honestly how can you get a booking in this type of game.

Players are sayin they did struggle with playing that high above sea level.

This is why a South American team will win the world cup, basically. Brazil.

If it was a cup game we'd lose to them whatever division they were from! We might squeeze past them if they were the level of say....Stourbridge.... :D

I fully agree with what former England captain Terry Butcher said , the game was more useful than a normal training session .

Yup. I'd also be surprised if England haven't been taking advantage of altitude training technology easily available these days....

For example..... http://www.hypoxico.com/News/?p=75

Not all games will be at altitude. 2 of Englands group games are sea level and depending on how the draw pans out after (assuming!) qualification the QF and SF could also be at sea level - we would need to come 2nd in group for this to work though.
