Did anyone see the Argentina and France preliminary World Cup squads??

Maradona and Domenech make Merson and Hutch looklike Fergie and Cloughie.

Anyone ever heard of these Argies that are in the squad?
Diego Pozo (Colon)
Nicolas Otamendi (Velez Sarsfield)
Juan Manuel Insaurralde (Newell's Old Boys)
Clemente Rodriguez (Estudiantes)
Ariel Garce (Colon)
Sebastian Blanco (Lanus
Jesus Datolo (Olympiacos)
Jose Sosa (Estudiantes)
Juan Mercier (Argentinos Juniors)

:? :? :?

Why, it's not about England. It's about the World Cup.

I remember a while back a debate about having a World Cup forum, is that still possible?

I agree Priestley...

Anyways back on topic....

I think its quite possible this summer for us to bring home the big one!
When you look at our possible route to the final...Serbia, France, Portugal before playing Spain or Brazil in the final. Id rather have the French, Portuguese and possibly Argentina in our half than Italy, Brazil and Spain.

Ivory Coast are always touted to have a good world cup but with Brazil and Portugal in the group I cant see them getting past the first round, however my dark horse would be Mexico.

Whose going to win - Spain

Whose the dark horses - Uraguay

Whose going to win the golden boot - David Villa

Who we going out to on penalties - Germany
---------------------------------------------------------
Saying that, if we get passed Germany who we will ultimately meet at some stage, think its Quarters we could meet them, but yes, if we get past the Germans its ours to lose.

I cant wait for the World Cup :D Suprised theres no Deeney in Fabios 30 but nevermind..

Spain,Portugal or us will win.
Ivory Coast for me will be one to watch.
Probably someone like David Villa/Pauleta will get most goals.
And the last question i really hope it won't be against the Germans.

Some REALLY weird dark horses there

If anything, England would be the dark horses

Rooney for golden boot

Brazil favourites

We are likely to lose to anyone on penalties but I'd fancy us against Spain

Winners - Portugal
Dark Horses - nobody
Golden Boot - Villa
We'll lose on penalties to either Brazil in the semi or Portugal in the final. If us and the Germans perform to win our groups we'll be in opposite halves of the draw. I wouldn't mind finishing second in the group to set up a German grudge match in the second round. :D

The month of June is mid-winter in South Africa, so expect cold, wet weather.

Yup. Was certainly chilly when I was there in June. Certainly not shorts and T-shirt weather. Gloves and woolly hat is more like it. :D

I don't know what the fascination is with Spain. All I can assume is that having Torres & Villa up front sounds exotic & continental and, therefore, they must be better than everyone else.

In my opinion, England's squad is at least as good as any other in this tournament. They might not be olive-skinned Adonises with important-sounding foreign names, or play in some obscure league where the shirts are plastered in adverts & stars, but they're bloody good players and are representing the sport's native country - and yes, that does make a difference, because there's extra pride at stake.

We're quick to jump on Blatter et al. when they down-talk our football team, but a lot of England fans are pretty negative about the team themselves. I don't know whether they're trying to maintain modesty, but winners don't think like that. Winners achieve their goal, whatever it takes, whoever is opposing them. Success is a choice.

I admire your outlook, but i feel we just don't have the defence/goalkeeping nous to get to the final. It pains me to say that it really does. I also suspect that our main player is shot to pieces.

I hope I'm wrong.

Ideally there needs to be a progressive campaign to rename the current England squad with more exotic surnames. This in turn will see a drive to more elaborate haircuts, hair bands and designer stubble, which will in turn see a marked increase in technical ability shown by the players.

Waynez Rooniro
Stefano Gerrardini
Pedro Crouchez
