Just from players that I have seen in my lifetime.....

G Buffon (ITA)
Cafu (BRA)
F Baresi (ITA)
A Nesta (ITA)
P Maldini (ITA)
L Matthaus (GER)
R Gullit (NED)
G Hagi (ROM)
D Maradona (ARG)
Romario (BRA)
J Klinsmann (GER)

Not a bad line-up! :)

I've gone for a very attacking midfield, cos I reckon that the defence I've picked can look after themselves! :D

I was tempted to go with Lineker, but alas, he did not make my final XI.... He'd be on the bench, though. As would David Seaman.

I know, but they were bloody good defenders, weren't they?!

An Enjoyable video montage of Mexico 86 goals.

Including "The Hand of God"

And possibly the gayest ever goal celebration from Gordon Strachan

Apologies to non UK UTS users, for some reason The Beeb won't allow you to watch the vid

Right World Cup Competition time...........

Name the country to win the world cup and I shall sort out a prize for the winner.
There obviously will be a few that pick the same country so as a decider, say how many goals will be scored throughout the tournement.

Away you go.

What on earth do they base the Fifa World rankings over????

Croatia have beaten Austria and Wales in the last month but lose 10 ranking points???
France havent played a game this month yet they go up a place, above Croatia.
Whereas Portugal draw with CAPE VERDE and dont lose any points or places??

It all needs scrapping.

:? :? :? :?

Holland, 161.

Last 8 to be: Holland, England, Germany, USA, Argentina, South Africa OR Australia, Italy OR Brazil and one other real shock.
(look I haven't checked for impossibilities in there, all right)

Hmmm, was going to dismiss that as insanity, but have just looked at the fixtures and I note that in the last 16 they will play either Brazil, Ivory Coast or Portugal....so, while I think they will go through, and probably win it, I can see what you mean.

Well Tim, I'm proud to confirm my long tradition of insanity is almost as long as Spain's World Cup underachievements.

By the way, can I be the first to say that I find the propsect of such a tournament distasteful.

I mean, groups of eleven men being divided up by some jingoistic idea of arbitrary nationality.
Wouldn't it be nice and inclusive if they could all come together and try get a ball into a net as one and the trophy would be for all of us.
