Netherlands v England 12/8/09

Mon Aug 10, 2009 8:24 pm

Game on Weds - can England keep up their winning ways, or will we slump to the clogs?

See Ben Foster's already been ruled out after "picking up a knock" in the Charity Shield game. Bet he's fit for ManUre's Premier League game on Sunday.

Gerrard has pulled out now with a "tight groin".

I bet he'll be alright for the weekend, too.

Agreed. I'd expect most of the top players to have developed some kind of niggling injury by this time tomorrow!

What a joke the bloke is.

Really?
Well having seen Foster on Sunday and Green tonight, I know which keeper would give me confidence if I was a defender!
Personally I think Green as matured and has something about him.
Definately Englands number 1 at minute.

What have I learnt tonight?
1. Heskey should never play for England again. Rooney and Defoe up front with Carlton Cole as back up. Both Defoe and Cole give miles more than Heskey.
2. Milner did more in 5 minutes then Young did in 45 minutes! Milner should start in front of Young and Downing for sure.
3. I still dont like the mobility of Beckham. I much prefer someone on the right running at defenders like Walcott or Wright Phillips.
4. Green is Englands number 1 goalkeeper.
5. We lack a decent right back and a partner for Terry in centre defence.
6. We lack a world class defensive midfielder. Barry and Carrick? Dont make me laugh!
So thats 3 positions we need to seriously worry about with the World Cup around the corner.

What complete b******s. Judge them once the season has started, not in a meaningless preseason friendly

What? In a meaningless friendly? Do me a favour!

Now, if he were his country's captain and were to miss, say, a crucial final qualification game for, say, a European Championship and then roll up in his club colours a few days later, THAT would be a joke.

But, who would do such a thing?

Yes Neil, you certainly know what b*******s means thats for sure.
Are you seriously suggesting to me that given x amount of Premiership matches, Heskey will be a better option then De Foe or Cole? I will let you state to me what x you want to use as the judge.
The above also applies to Milner and the Young/Downing situation. Especially in regards Downing who hasnt the pace or skill to make an international footballer.
Green is better than any English goalkepper around at the moment. Thats a FACT Neil.
And who have you in mind for right back and a partner for Terry?

The fact of the matter Neil, is you are on a thin line. A completer and utter plank in fact.
Do up yours and if you dont like what I say, come out with an explaination. Plank.

It was the England medical staff that pulled Gerrard out. Looked Having watched him yesterday he looked well out of sorts.

I agree with Sheff about Heskey, he never has been an international footballer, and he never will be.
Green is a far better bet than James. Kirkland is the best English keeper, if he is ever fit.
Defensive midfielder, more than likely going to be Gerrard , who can comfortably play there.
Ferdinand had a bit of a mare, but I wouldn't write him off, or say we need a partner for Terry. If Ledley King ever gets any kind of fitness he would be fine. Played really well yesterday.

I also agree about Beckham, waste of time now in my opinion.

But that's the whole point isn't it? You are judging them on a pre season game, without X number of games! Thanks for making the point. If you get the same in the next game, then you might learn something.
