How unfortunate for the lad that it appears to be pronounced with a 'j' and not a 'z'!!

I'm just waiting for Lawrenson to start sniggering off mic when Motty says his name!!

Great performance so far. Apart from one player. This player is useless. How on earth is ashley cole the best left back we have? Not once have i seen him play well for England.

Somehow McLaren has turned the rest of the team round, and looks like Euro 2008 here we come!

Are you for real? He was one of our best players at all three recent major tournaments. In both 2004 and 2006 he was the only left-back in the whole tournament to get the better of Cristiano Ronaldo.

That said, I don't think he's had a great 12 months.

Why has he brought the most over rated striker in europe on?

And as said earlier, Ashley cole has had a turd game, good going forward but cant defend.

No, we're not! We're still getting players forward and Barry is playing very well. Done very little wrong, fair play to him. :)

Then we have to go and bring Phil Neville on! :?

These last two matches we have looked like a positive team that wants to play and to win

Don't know what's changed but the team has its heart, soul and spine back (after a long long time)

Gerrard and Barry are excellent together. No room for Lampard now. Hopefully McC will see the light!

But how can he possibly ignore Big Frank Lumpard? The guy's captain for the most special team in England, and is London based so that all the sports reporters can see first hand his wonderful club performances.

Topic moved to the England forum BTW.

Its quite obvious southern has either been drunk over the last few years or he has no clues about football.
Or both?

Sorry Sheff, I've never understood some of the more severe criticism of Lampard over the years, but there is NO way McLaren can just slot him back in the team ahead of Barry. He's a lot more involved than Lampard usually is and the midfield looks much better balanced.

Totally agreed.
He should slot him in instead of Gerrard.

The good thing is that England can now control their own destiny for qualification again. We only need 5 points out of the remaining games to be certain provided one of those points is gained in Moscow. On the basis of this result that has got to be a relaistic target surely

Oh how we agree on that one. Has been the same since, forever! And in any sport.
