Southend United (H) April 16th, 3pm
As explained on the Gills' thread, we're away this week so this thread is up early (going abroad, we are, to England!!).
Southend United's form has fallen away somewhat from their mid-season promise. They're currently 11th in the League One table, 9 points away from the play-offs, but you only have to go back to Boxing Day to see that they were level on points with the play-off sides but then lost the next 3 games (including a 0-3 home defeat by the execrable Doncaster outfit!). Southend's recent form:
12 Mar Barnsley (A) Won 0-2
19 Mar Gillingham (H) Drew 1-1
25 Mar Rochdale (A) Lost 4-1
30 Mar Sheffield United (H) Won 3-1
2 Apr Blackpool (A) Lost 2-0
9 Apr Fleetwood Town (H) Drew 2-2
Our team selection may well be dependent on Tuesday's performance at Gillingham, but the same principle of "we really HAVE to win games" still applies if we want to get near an automatic promotion place. And with Villa now 99.99% certain to be relegated, a Championship season is all the more attractive. Let's see if we can start grinding out ugly 1-0 results - that may well be all we need (as long as we can rely on Wigan Athletic thumping Burton Albion at some future date!!).

Brown seemed VERY confident that they would get three points at Walsall, who have "dropped like a stone" so not just us that have noticed eh?

That's our team talk done, just play that before kick off and let the players go!

Best not even play the match then, someone ring the FA and just award the 3 points to Southend immediately as Pepe Brown has spoken.
fudge me...

Same team that beat Gills except Morris in for Forde. Morris' style suits what we need at home much more than Forde.
If O'Connor is back stick him in for calamity Downing too.

Downing is a poor name for centre-halfs: alliteration can be so cruel.

Big game (as every one is) this, hope we can get a win but very nervous about our home form.
Let's say Walsall 2 - 0 Sarfend. Sawyers (on a confidence hit) and Jordi.
Burton have home to Barnsley who are really scrapping for a play off place. Let's call a draw on that one!!
Come on you SADDLERS!

An absolute must win. We need to install some belief at home to try and see us over the line, so I'll go Walsall 0-3 Sarfend :D

3-0 to the Saddlers for this one.
Sawyers with all 3. 1 with his right, 1 with his left and then 1 with his head just to pee Phil off

Walsall 2- 1 Southend.
Home fan's to struggle to agree if Sawyers is the anti-Christ or Lionel Messi. Depending on how many fancy technique ball controls he performs which will send the Cult of Romaine into a wrist cranking frenzy or he'll apparently not be perceived as running at the expected speed so therefore will be declared 'lazy' and probably be blamed for ISIS, global warming and corporate tax evasion.

Indeed.
I can still remember one of his hattrick being a shot that flew into the top corner from the halfway line.
One of the first games I ever went to, good day.

Walsall to win 3-1 but score all four goals.
Mantom, Lalk, Hiwula for us & Downing for them.

What an important game. A win really will send out a clear message - especially at home where we tend to struggle.
Tbf to Phil Brown at the time we had dropped 3 places and it was just a throwaway comment on live TV. However, if it serves as motivation for our players to go and batter Southend then that's fine by me!
A comfortable 2-0.

It's absolutely vital we scrap out a scruffy 1-0 tomorrow to keep the pressure on. Henry with a 90+3 deflected winner, COYR.
