Scunthorpe United (H) League One, 1 Mar 7.45pm
If we are to be realistic contenders for promotion then our home form is the obvious area for improvement. We welcome Scunthorpe United to start the month of March with the knowledge that we haven't won at home in the League this year!!! Although Scunthorpe are 14th in the table it could be a huge mistake to think of this as an easy game - since Mark Robins was shown the door in January after a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Blackpool the management team of Nick Daws and Andy Dawson produced four straight wins, including notable away successes at Coventry City and Millwall. Their biggest weapon on the field of play is undoubtedly Paddy Madden, with 18 League One goals to his name, so if he can be effectively shackled we might stand a chance. Scunthorpe's recent League One form:
23 Jan Colchester United (H) Won 3-0
30 Jan Coventry City (A) Won 1-2
13 Feb Southend United (H) Won 1-0
16 Feb Millwall (A) Won 0-2
20 Feb Fleetwood Town (A) Lost 2-1
27 Feb Oldham Athletic (H) Drew 1-1
The burning question is, of course, that of Sean O'Driscoll's approach and team selection for this game. We have two supposedly attacking midfielders on loan but they don't appear to be in contention for anything more than a substitute function. The same now applies to our hottest prospect for years attacking left-back, who only merits a bench place for whatever reason or rumour you choose to believe. Our leading goalscorer isn't displaying much of the form that propelled him into the Welsh squad, and our midfield playmaker has been dropping back so often that he is neither able to score nor assist.
Having got that little lot of my chest.....what about the match? Obviously a win would be ideal, and I would willingly take an ugly 1-0 without a care in the world as to who scores it. There is another factor which we have to take into account on match-days now, and that is the outlook for our rivals - as we are now in 4th place in the table we will be relying on others to drop points so that we can overtake them, and Tuesday's fixtures are more than mouth-watering in that respect........
Millwall v Wigan Athletic
Barnsley v Coventry City
Sheffield United v Burton Albion
Gillingham seem to have the least difficult match (away at Fleetwood) but after losing at home to Chesterfield at the weekend, who knows???

Although 0-0 at top of the league is a decent point, any home match is difficult at the moment. So, a 1-1 draw in front of 3,854, including 140 from Scunny.

11/12- 2-2 (last minute equaliser from them)
12/13- 1-4
14/15- 1-4
Pass.

Good post WELSH.....just one small point MORRIS(B) is a defensive midfielder in as cover for Chambers! We need to win this and I think we might just scrape a win 1-0

Honestly don't know how this will go but we have to improve at home.

I understand that Dack went off after half an hour on Saturday with a suspected hamstring injury.
Having a scan today, so let's hope for good news.

Overdue time to put this lot to the sword after they've battered us of late at home.
Its time for a positive attacking performance to reinstall some confidence and belief in the team's abilities. Granted we've had a cack patch of late but we are still in a sweet position. SO'D just needs to unleash the shackles a bit and get some more of our attacking players further forward.
Walsall 3- 1 The Iron.
Mantom, Bradshaw & a second half goal from Rico!

Excellent stuff Welsh. What are the stats for us playing under lights? I know we've been fantastic away, Donny, Shrewsbury. And we did beat Chesterfield at home, albeit after 120 minutes and the 12-yard lottery.
Again, battling well at the minute. This one will come down to Scunny. They arrive full of confidence and play on the front foot, then we'll pick them off. They sit & press happy with a point, or a jammy three, and it will be a very different game.
I'd love to see us switch to the 3-5-2 variant for this one. And Morris to start, Milan to be introduced for impact later on.
Backing us for our first home win of the year.

Would really like to see a different approach taken at home - especially if Scunny come and park the bus!
Don't care how it happens - just want the 3 points

Look for the positives at the end of the game. If we carnt agree I am sure SOD will fill us with all the positives we all missed after watching the game outside of the dugout!!

I predict Walsall nil. The glass was half full, then half empty. It is now smashed to pieces. Team spirit has gone. Smith has done well, destroyed 2 teams promotion chances!!
Hope I am completely wrong.

Last chance saloon for the team tonight, win the next two home games and we stand a chance lose and the dream is over.
Unfortunately I cant see us winning..... 1-1 , lack of fire power once again proving costly

Scunthorpe are a proper bogey side, we never beat them. With 3 games in a week, low confidence, potentially no Bradshaw/O'Connor. This brings back memories of the 1-4 home defeat when they had 10 men, Leon Clarke gave us the run around and we hadn't won in 14 odd games.
11/4 for the away win - printing money.
This lot are finished under SOD.

Where does it say Bradshaw/O'Connor could be missing?

Re: Scunthorpe United (H) League One, 1 Mar 7.45pm
We've all said it and we all know it - really is a must win game. Let's all get behind the boys tonight, and on Saturday. 6 points from these two (perfectly achievable) and we're right back on track, especially if others falter.
I would like to see K. Morris start and inject some much needed freshness into the side. In an ideal world I would love to see Henry returning in the wing-back position but I'm not going to hold my breath with Yawn O'Dismal. Same side to start as did at Burton more than likely.
I'm being optimistic and going to go with a narrow 1-0 win in front of 4,128 with 170 from the up narth. Sawyers to score a frustrated belter from 20 yards. Andy Taylor to damage the scoreboard with a cross. O'Driscoll to completely deny the existence of any promising young attacking full-backs. Pre-match talk to remind us that automatic promotion belongs to *Club A* and *Club B*. B. Morris and J. Wakefield to play tiddlywinks all evening.
See you there :D

Makes me laugh when they keep predicting Sawyers to score, it`s like wishing you`ll win the lottery.

Really need to win tonight and sat to keep distance and pressure on those below us, my heart says we will win both my head says lucky to get 1 point.SOD seems determined to take us in one direction only.
I renewed my season ticket today under the promotion # believe, would be nice if the man in charge of team selection and our dreams . SOD does not #believe.

Far more likely, on a par with S'ODysmal playing Rico and telling the team in the dressing room to attack, attack, attack!
Dreams eh?

This one's a draw all day, in fact I can't see where our next win is coming from at this rate.
