Sheffield Utd (H) League One 21st Nov, 3pm
Early thread this week before I vacate the UK for sunnier climes with dodgy internet facilities.....and we welcome the Blades (sorry, Blunts) for a resumption of our League One programme. Despite being one of the favourites for an automatic promotion spot (as they seem to be every year), United are currently in 8th place in the table on 24 points and their form hasn't been anything to write home about under Nigel Adkins' management. He was appointed in June and the size of his task was brought home to him at this season's opening fixture when United were thumped 4-0 at Gillingham. Money to improve matters wouldn't seem to be a problem - the club is 50% owned by a Saudi Royal Prince, and the squad is among the biggest in this league at 35 players. Current form is indifferent though:
17 Oct Oldham Athletic (A) League One, Drew 1-1
20 Oct Fleetwood Town (H) League One, Won 3-0
24 Oct Millwall (H) League One, Lost 1-2
31 Oct Crewe Alexandra (A) League One, Lost 1-0
7 Nov Worcester City (H) F.A. Cup, Won 3-0
10 Nov Fleetwood Town (A) F.L. Trophy, Drew 0-0 (Lost 4-1 on penalties)
One familiar face I would have thought we might see in their line-up is Florent Cuvelier, but he hasn't appeared in the flesh this season from what I can see. Perhaps he's injured, or loaned out - no doubt a friendly Blade can inform us. Leading scorers this season are Billy Sharp and Che Adams (7 and 6 goals respectively). In the League, they've scored two fewer goals than ourselves but have shipped eight more than we have and I would hope that as long as our international squad return fit and raring to go, we should be able to gather another three points with, say, a 2-0 scoreline.
Our position at the top of the table is naturally under threat in view of our postponed game but Burton Albion are in the same boat, so the only teams who can overtake us this weekend are Gillingham (at home to Bury) and Coventry City (away at Colchester United). If those two games end all-square we would have four clubs all bracketed together on 32 points - and even if they have some success, the following Saturday sees Coventry playing Gillingham.......Oh, and Bury v Burton Albion!!!

Re: Sheffield Utd (H) League One 21st Nov, 3pm
I listen to Radio Sheffield a bit, and to listen to some blunts you would think they never spend money, they seem to think getting Billy Sharp on a free but paying him 20 grand a week is not spending money!! They are worse than the Dingles.
On the League front, IF (I know!!) we win our next 3 games, (non of them are pulling up any trees) we could go into the Shrewsbury game clear at the top and with even more distance from seventh place.
Christmas on top of the table? would be very happy with that.

I'd be even happier if that was the case after Easter

I would love to see us smash them 3/4 however I will go for a cagey 2-1 win with Bradshaw getting a brace.
This will leave their fans to blame the weather, referee, pitch, the full moon and any other excuses they can conjure up before attempting to sign half of our squad in January.

As someone has already forecast on the prediction thread, I also think this one will be 2-2.
And wrap up warm folks, it'll be a 'freeze your nuts off' afternoon.
The travelling Premiership wannabies will boost the attendance to about 4,500.

Half time in the game that matters and it's 0-0.
We've had 9 goal attempts, 5 on target, 4 corners, and we've hit their bar twice - better things to come?

Boston winning away at Alfreton. An early goal from Blinco. Could this effect our confidence? Hope the players don't catch wind.

Some quotes from half time summary on Radio Sheffield:
"don't know how its still 0-0"
"Walsall giving the Blades a footballing lesson"
"Lalkovich outstanding for Walsall"
Just hope we can convert this superiority to goals.
