Here's one for the record. We are as it stands the highest ranked team still left in the FA Cup. Wonder if that's ever happened before :D

The highest ranked by some distance, if results carry on as they are. The four teams below us in the League One table are all losing!!!

Of passing interest regarding ex-Walsall players, Richard O'Donnell and Will Grigg both made the starting line-up for Wigan Athletic at Bury in the F.A. Cup today. Half-time sees the score as Bury 3 Wigan Athletic 0

As expected, with no doubt less than 100 Fleetwood. Decent enough effort for such a dull tie.

If Crewe got more than 3,000 there's no reason why we couldn't have done... :?

Almost 300 Eastleigh fans so not a huge difference home support wise. We'd had probably pulled a few more if it was a non-league team coming here, just for the interest. Fleetwood at home is really a drab League One fixture and I don't really blame anyone saving their 15 quid for the upcoming League games.

Would have been nice to get a better gate though definitely !

Still on the subject of ex-Walsall players - Karl Hawley's penalty has put Stourbridge 1-2 up at Dover, whose keeper has been sent off......

Bury now 4-0 up at home to Wigan Athletic

I am also shocked by the low attendance for the top-a-league team....I was wondering if there is some big event in Walsall this Saturday like a Lidl 10% off sale or a Des O'Connor concert.

Burton and Gillingham losing might do our psychological advantage momentum continuity good....Burton and Gillingham might start doubting their football boots.

That'll do for me too, although I was hoping that Fleetwood may have equalised so that the missus could get another day out in Fleetwood/Freeport shopping centre! Dec 12th will have to do.

What will we all do next week when there is no match?

In the past (at FP) a first round FA Cup tie would see a 1000 or so added to the gate - such was the attraction of the cup. Perhaps the club should have said, in the event of a of a big third round game, priority will be given to 1) ST holders, 2) Anyone with an FA Cup booking history, 3) Anyone with a booking history for other matches this season.

Give priority to those who bother to attend the cup matches - still chance to do that if we're at home next round.

What about us that live outside the Midlands but still attend when we can ( work, like myself I work 5 out of 7 so I could be working weekends and may not be able to attend) but if you don't live in Walsall you don't count !!!!!!!!

:D Nice win! Keeps up the good habit and the confidence. Pity about the attendance. :(
Interesting to see the BBC said before the game:

Walsall are the highest-ranked team in the first round. :D

Let's hope we'm the highest ranked team in the next round :D

UTS! Excelsior! :D
