Peterborough United (A) League One, 19th Sept, 3pm
Off to the wilds of Cambridgeshire to play our second successive game against managerless opposition. Dave Robertson, given a 3-year contract in May this year, was sacked after the Posh only recorded one win in their first 6 games. Grant McCann has the caretaker manager role, and Chairman Darragh MacAnthony says he has a four man shortlist to take the reins. Whether that list includes Steve Evans (the bookies' favourite) or Robbie Fowler (who says he's interested) is unknown. What IS known is that Peterborough's first game after Robertson's departure was at Boundary Park where they thrashed Oldham Athletic 1-5. The highlights of that game were, as always, too brief - but the Peterborough players seemed extremely fired up and raring to go, so presumably we will receive the same treatment. Recent form:
22 Aug Burton Albion (A) League One, Lost 2-1
25 Aug Charlton Athletic (H) League Cup 2nd round, Lost 1-4
29 Aug Gillingham (H) League One, Drew 1-1
1 Sep Millwall (A) F. L. Trophy, Lost 1-0
5 Sep Southend United (A) League One, Lost 2-1
12 Sep Oldham Athletic (A) League One, Won 1-5
Marcus Maddison is Posh's top scorer with 5 to his name, but Lee Angol and Souleymane Coulibaly got a couple each at Oldham so their goal threat appears unrestricted. Grant McCann's comment after the Oldham win included the telling phrase about his players: "they definitely expressed themselves and played with a real freedom".
Dean Smith's team selection, as always, is unpredictable. Peterborough have only failed to score in two matches this season (just like ourselves) so our 100% away League One record will be tested because on their own ground they've scored in every game. It promises to be an open game with plenty of opportunity for the likes of Sawyers and Lalkovic to express themselves (if selected). Bearing in mind Peterborough's re-discovered form I will be quite happy with a 1-1 result on Saturday.
After Sheffield United's abject performance over the past week (two home defeats) it's reassuring to note that even if we lose on Saturday we can only be overtaken by Burton (away at Swindon) and possibly Coventry (home to Chesterfield). UTS !!

Hoping for win but head says 2-1 defeat, sacked manager to produce usual improvement as seen against oldham, players pos thinking about chelsea (only natural not wanting get injured for big game),
and all good runs have to end sometime working against us.
Good point I'm the worst predictor of walsall games including win at morecombe and defeat at blackpool, so would like continue to be wrong.

Got an intuition for a hard fought 1 - 0 win for this one. Don't know why. But I'm always wrong anyway.

1-1, a header from a set piece - I'm going for O'Connor just for the irony.
God knows who for them, probably new signing Roger Willis from Barnet if Barry Fry has stuck his oar in.

These matches are not usually free-scoring affairs in recent years, but there will be a goal or two in this one.
I'll say a 1-1 draw, with Lalkovic for us in front of 5,773, including 459 Saddlers.

ahhhh peterborough :D i have some memories there. i remember getting off the special train. there were quite a few hundred walsall fans. all singing as we made our way through the town. shops shutting doors and old ladies scarpering into any shop that would open up. we passed a hut with a few unlucky bikers on our way. i remember seeing a helmet rolling down the street  . when we got to the ground. we had to take all our laces out of our boots. to stop us running onto the pitch  the police said we could collect them after the match. as we came out there where a few boxes of laces but someone had gotten away with my 24 eye doc martin boot laces
anyway i think it will be 0-2 to the saddlers mantom and sawyers with the goals

Tomorrow will be my first visit to London Rd ( it would be my second, if they hadn't changed the game a couple of years ago to a Friday night after I'd bought my train tickets!)

A home game for me, just 20 mins up the road. I predict we'll batter them for 89 mins and lose 0-1.

Your review didn't mention an event sometime in 1933?
And where exactly is that a photo of?

I was presuming it was Warsaw......but not having been there, it was merely a guess!

A very early goal in Sloppie-land, where Crewe take the lead after 1 minute
...and Colchester do us a favour by going 1-0 at home to Gillingham - which puts us top of the table !!!! :D
Blackpool's woes continue - already 0-1 down at home to Barnsley

Flanagan hits the post with a shot after 5 min
Gillingham equalise at Colchester :(
Andy Butler scores for Doncaster to take a 1-0 lead over Oldham
...and we're back on top of the table, as Colchester go 2-1 up at home to Gillingham !! :D
...and now we're 2nd again, as Burton take the lead at Swindon!
