Rochdale (A) League One, Tue 18th August, 7.45pm
"Something's got to give" applies to this game - Rochdale are 100% in their home League One form while we are 100% in our away League One form. Additionally both sides have won those fixtures 2-0 (or 0-2 in our case!). Readers of a nervous disposition won't thank me for reminding them that last season's fixtures were a mixed bag - a home win 3-2, an away win 0-1 in the Football League Trophy, and a truly awful performance in the League at Spotland where we managed to lose 4-0 and Dean Smith ended up bringing the team in on their day off for the post-mortem.
Rochdale's season so far finds them joint top of the table with Coventry, only placed 2nd on goal difference. Results:
Aug 8 Peterborough United (H) League One, Won 2-0
Aug 11 Coventry City (H) League Cup 1st round, Drew 1-1 (Rochdale won 5-3 on penalties)
Aug 15 Blackpool (A) League One, Won 0-2
One familiar face in Rochdale's line-up should be Ollie Lancashire. Midfielder Donal McDermott is Rochdale's leading scorer so far with 2 goals to his name, but three other players have a goal each so their threat could come from anywhere.
Dean Smith didn't follow the mantra of "Don't change a winning side" after the Forest game, deciding not to use Lalkovic or Morris - but he got the result right so perhaps he deserves our continued faith........As for predictions, this is probably the trickiest game to forecast so far this season. We know we play well away from home but Rochdale do represent a stern test, and if we can come away with a point I will be quite satisfied. Let's say 1-1, with Romaine Sawyers getting back on the score-sheet.

Re: Rochdale (A) League One, Tue 18th August, 7.45pm
REALLY tough to call, but I'll be there for my first game, hope the team that beat Forrest and Sarfend turns up, and not the one that saw our worst 2014/2015 seasons performance (with the exception of Barnsley of course).
Could go either way, but lets hope Floppy Hair Bradshaw F.C. is on song, and that their No.7 has a mare instead of ripping us to pieces like he usually does.
Another 2-0 win would probably see us in the top few places, lets hope so eh? :D

Re: Rochdale (A) League One, Tue 18th August, 7.45pm
It is a tough call.
The positive thing is that in the last dozen or so games Smith has belatedly found not only a PlanB but also a Plan C with varied personnel. This means the Keith Hill will be left wondering until 7:15 and even then he might only be able to 80% guess how we're going to shape up. Phil Brown, by his own admission, got it horribly wrong on Saturday.
Keith Hill is good, very good at match management. His triple substitution after half an hour at 3-0 down at our place last year nearly got them a point. Dean still struggles in this department. Formulaic and pre-planned subs on an hour, seventy five and eight five minutes seem the norm (in contrast to Hill, at 4-0 down at Spotland last year we didn't make a sub until the 61st minute).
So I'll go for a positive start and a lead within 15 minutes, but ultimately a very decent point to leave us around 8th or 9th.
I'll be sat in what I have now decided is my lucky seat in my lucky bar, drinking my lucky beer over-looking the Algarve sun-set whilst thinking of Rochdale.

An entertaining 3-2 win in front of 3778 including 388 Saddlers
Bradshaw on fire knowing the readies are being counted for his impending departure, will get two more
Sawyers with the other

This is a very difficult call. We're looking well worth a win at the moment but Rochdale have equally had a terrific start. Blackpool, Coventry and Peterborough are all tough games.
Despite that I'm confident we'll at least get a point. We're looking good:
Rochdale 1 - 3 Walsall
Bradshaw x 2, Morris.
UTS!! Onwards and upwards.

As others have said a very tough game but at least we are approaching it after two very good away days. I'll say a 1-1 draw [it has to come true at some stage  ] with Bradshaw for us, in front 2,609, including 352 Saddlers.

8-0 Bradshaw to score 5 in the first half and then gets signed by Barcelona at half time, then replaced by Cook who scores a hat trick and signs for their B team. Bakayoko to be recalled.

It was believable until you added that rubbish about Cook.

2-2.
Let's hope there's better tactics to deal with Vincenti this year as he destroyed O'Connor from long diagonal balls in last years game.

You just never know MMF. Worth a cheeky fiver?
Will be a very tough game against a in form side. Plus the gangliness of their playmaker Peter Vincenti really chuffs me off, he looks like he should be serving behind a counter at Burger King but always plays a blinder against us.
Ill go for a 2-1 win. Last minute Bradshaw goal.
Wait....is that optimism?? UTS

Very tough game, Keith Hill's an excellent manager and Dale will play good, quick attacking football. Let's hope for some sort of improvement on that 4-0 from last season on a Tuesday night...
Hard fought point.
204 Saddlers in attendance.

G   d evening
Well, it a win ALL DAY LONG...
Romaine nets the opener from 6 yards.
Bradders swivels just inside the box and fires it home to make it 2-0 half time..
Dale level with a 30 yarder that take a massive deflection on 55 minutes.
Dale upping the pace when Rico is sent clear, lovely cross for Bradders to side foot home on 71 minutes.
Dale huff and puff but its very even and the Saddlers end up comfortable winners.
Although a ringer for Dancing Kev, runs on the pitch in injury time, stark +ollock naked, with a Cyprus flag.
Our right back is not amused and pulls HIM to the ground to the chants of ALLiALLLLLIALLLLLLO, ALLLIALLLIO.
The ringer is arrested with his glasses in pieces, crying his eyes out.
