I thought Mantom and Flanagan were meant to be barclays and we'd not get 20 points this season?

MANTOM 0-2

Sawyers could of made it 3 from 6 yards still positive signs different players attacking and scoring

Excellent result. Good to hear that Flanagan had a good game, one for the future I'm sure.

The cost of today was looking at about £66 before I left the house so I gave it a swerve.

Looks like I'll have to go on Tuesday now...

Brillant result, Roots Hall is a proper bogey ground for us normally - good form or bad, it tends to be a cert that we lose there in the league. Glad to see Mantom on the scoresheet, that could provide a bump in confidence for him. Super Tom again, with a turn and clinical finish? September 1st really cannot come quick enough. A couple of very solid games coming up next week. Glad to see Smith stuck with Flanagan today, I hope he proves us wrong.

373 Saddlers, decent following.

Brilliant! 2 - 0 away and a clean sheet; it don't get better than that! * :D
It sounds like the team all played well and that we have a good system. More power to the Bescot Boys! :D

*Message to self: Of course it does, numpty. There are an infinite number of results that are, in principle, better than this one. Cease the logical fallacies and unsupportable hyperbole.

Self: Never mind. That'll dae me! :D :D :D :D

I remember listening to a game on Sadsworld while watching Soccer Saturday. We conceded an added time equaliser which came up on he TV. It was a good couple of minutes before the commentary caught up

Super result and sounds like a convincing away win.

I'm a long way from home just now but followed the game with a beer in hand and a smile on my fizzog.

Next two against the two sides with 100% records but it feels like we're on a roll. My next games are the Brighton cup game and Blackpool away so very hopeful that we'll be in a similar spot in the league when we get to those.

Well done lads!

if this carries on I will have to change my user name to Walsalltwo+....seriously though I did say a few months ago that it was premature to write off Flanagan. He may yet become a very good player. Youngsters should be given every chance by Clubs like Walsall and their fans.

The team dosen't have an issue winning away, we saw that last season.

Think Southend will be one of the weaker teams in the league so not getting too carried, Rochdale and Coventry will be much bigger tests.

Still if this team can start to consistently win at home...then yes time to get excited.

Good performance, particularly in the first half. Last 15 minutes we dropped too deep and allowed Southend to put pressure on us but thankfully their finishing was poor so we were not punished.

Etheridge: Very commanding in the air but his kicking is a real concern. Lots of work needed by Cutler on this.

Taylor: Very good performance.

O' Connor: Has took on the Butler role well. Never stops shouting instructions.

Downing: Solid.

Henry: The more I watch Henry the more I like him. By no means the finished article and needs to bulk up a little but you can see his improvement game by game. He will make mistakes along the way but we must accept this.

Demetriou: More than adequate replacement for Purkiss although I thought he was better in the Oldham game.

Mantom: Good performance and well taken goal. Should have also scored in the first half but went for placement rather than power. However, I felt he missed a few tackles and does not quite have the same intensity as his first season.

Flanagan: One of his best performances in a Walsall shirt (in the matches I have seen him). Seems to be developing into a solid player.

Chambers: Solid as usual. His fitness levels are immense.

Bradshaw: What can I say. His work rate and runs off the ball are top quality. He also has the nack all good strikers need of being able to put the ball in the back of the net. I will be amazed if he is still here come Sept 1st.

Sawyers: While he can frustrate you a number of times in a game I would much sooner have him playing for us than against. Ran the game in the first 30 minutes.

Subs:

Cook: Did ok when he came on but will simply not accept he is a striker.

Baxendale: Showed some nice touches. This is a make or break season for him for sure.

Forde: Did his job in the last few minutes nothing more.

All in all a positive performance but I still think we could do with another CB and CM. If we can get these and keep Bradshaw we will give ourselves a chance to finish in top 10 and maybe higher.

Great result proper bogey team Southend (at Roots Hall), decent turn out as well. Roll on Rochdale, early doors but we don't look a bad outfit at all.
