West Bromwich Albion (H) friendly Tuesday 28 July, 7.30pm
More swish Premier League opposition in the Bagladies, managed by Tiny Pulis. Will Deano stick with Plan A, or will caution be cast to the winds with an attacking Plan B (or K, L or M?). This should be a sterner test than posed by Villa, but as always it depends which Walsall turns up.
I wouldn't be disheartened with another draw, but let it be 3-3 or 4-4 rather than 1-1 as we need to start learning how to score more consistently than, well, you know........
Incidentally.....I would have assumed that the kick-off would be the standard 7.45pm, but I got the 7.30 time from our friends at Bascot Benter. :D

From that I am guessing 4231 of:
Mac
Deme, O'Connor, Dowing, Tay
Chambers, Flan
Bax, Sawyers, Henry
Bradshaw
Is this looking like it?
If so, could be frustrating night for Bax if stuck out right.
Let's hope we play a belter.

According to various posts on twitter, we are the better side.
Bradshaw has just hit the post from a penalty kick.. (40 mins)

Good 1st half from the Saddlers.
But deary me, you cannot miss spot kicks.
Bradders hits the post and puts the rebound wide.
Hitting the post is classed as a shot off target ---------------always amazes me - that.
0-0 H/T

Thought " the target " , was the bit enclosed by the wooden bits.

Sounds like a positive first half - shame about the penalty miss. I'd still like to see Callum Robinson in the side, up front with Bradshaw. I think goalscoring will once again be our main concern this season. Hope we can keep it up.

And if Bradshaw had put the pen rebound home, wouldn't he have been offside anyway (unless the keeper touched it onto the post)?

The Laws of the Game
14 The penalty Kick
The player taking the penalty kick must kick the ball forward
He must not play the ball again until it has touched another player
If, after the penalty kick has been taken:
the kicker touches the ball again (except with his hands) before it has touched another player:
an indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team, the kick to be taken from the place where the infringement occurred (see Law 13 - Position of Free Kick)

 Offer here,
If a shot hits the crossbar comes down and hit the goal line, is that on target....
or
A shot hits one post , rolls along the line and hits the other post, is that on target,
Just asking...as its seems a little unfair that when the woodwork is hit, its classed as off target but understand the kind of logic behind it.

It's not offside though it is a different rule.

You're right but the goal would not have counted if Tom had put the rebound in the net.

Sounds like an exciting game. Even though we're now a comfortable sounding 2-0 down.
Tempted to write that it also sounds like we're unlucky to be behind, but feel that would set the tone for the season. So I'll go with;our approach play sounds as though it is deserving of a better finish than our forwards have been capable of providing.

Probably gonna be the story of our season ain't it, not clinical enough to seal results. Need another striker, on loan maybe.
