Well done Saddlers, we in no way disgraced ourselves. In fact played some marvellous stuff at times. Chelsea didn't need a 2nd gear though!

Sitting in a Portland bar watching Spurs v Arsenal ( very good game ) , listening to the legend Mick Kearns on Sadsworld and whatsapping my correspondent at the Bonkssss.
Sounds like Sawyers was better than average and O'Connor even more so.
Bring on Crwho.

Whilst I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that, it was noticeable that Henry didn't struggle so much once Forde came on. It's maybe the price you pay for having an attacking, exciting player like Lalkovic on, tending to offer less support to the full-back.

O' Connor had a wonderful game, nobody disgraced themselves and, at times, you could have put Sawyers in a blue shirt and he wouldn't have looked out of place.

Bit disappointed we conceded a fourth - but I thought we played really well against a strong Chelsea side.

Well done Walsall.

very very proud of the boys tonight. milan ran his legs off. and o'connor scored from his free kick after the keeper dived to keep it out. sawyers was a class above. as someone said. he could have walked into their team tonight. i think that losing him is more of a worry than losing tom. we carved out more chances than them and the only difference was we lacked the finishing touch

We were very good i thought, 3-1 would've been fair.

Sawyers = Different gravy. Honestly he was unreal tonight....Still people behind me calling him lazy, saying that this was about 10 minutes into the first half, fair play to the said people though, nice of them to turn up for the first time since Wembley.

Look forward to being back to Normal on Saturday.

As a note, did anyone just see the 3 "walsall fans" they interviewed on BBC Midlands Today? I can genuinely say hand on heart only the first bloke was a Walsall fan.

Sawyers was another level.

I actually don't think he'd have looked out of place in Chelsea's team. He was sublime, immense, unreal, an absolute pleasure to watch. Otis, where are you? How's that humble pie tasting? And you too leatherman!!?

We played really well tonight. Good football from both sides. Falcao is absolute dogshit. That free kick was hilarious!!!

On to Crewe now!

We played well against a strong Chelsea team but were let down by two defensive errors but I don't want to dwell on those. I enjoyed the game and Sawyers was class...every inch a Premiership player. I hope we can get him to sign a contract extension but if not I can see him going in January.Anyway well done lads ...I just hope we have something left for Crewe.

Sawyers - outstanding!

Looking forward to Saturday when just the real 4,000 Walsall fans attend. I got asked 'what time does the match start' in the lounge before the game which was full of load mouthed swaggering cockerneys in cockerney hats - twerp.

Pity they got that 4th as a 2 goal difference would have been fair enough. Not often you can enjoy a game we lose.
So glad we got to celebrate a goal, just a pity we didn't start the 2nd half the way we ended it.
Agree with comments about Sawyers, such a shame that piece of brilliance towards the end wasn't rewarded with a goal.

Actually quite chuffed, as we played wel and matched them for periods of the game. Don't think the score line was fair but Etheridge didnt cover himself in much glory.

Absolutely shocking first goal at any level, you can't give the ball away on the edge of your own box.

Remy was a cut above, Falcao is an expensive pub player. Lalkovic and Henry also made ivanovic look rubbish in the first half.

Sawyers was the best player on the pitch. He was unreal. I'll be amazed if no bids come in for this boy.

Terry and Cahill are arrogant cack bags.

Special mention for Cook, who I have slagged off relentlessly recently. I thought he did the best of a tough task today.

It says a lot Mourinho thought it best to bring on 50 million pounds worth of substitutes.

Chelsea fans are cack, and I saw one berk in a Del Boy coat and cut off jeans. What a tosser. I bet it was Sheffield saddler.

I was pleased we created opportunities and we had a good go at them, if only we had played like that at Wembley.

Up the saddlers.

Chelsea 4-1 was a fair result to my eyes. From memory, Chelsea had three efforts cleared off the line so I cannot buy into the argument that the scoreline flattered the Blues. If anything, it flattered Walsall. It was good to see Walsall have a real go at what was still a very strong Chelsea team. Let's hope that Tom Bradshaw is back for Walsall's game against Crewe and the Saddlers spank the Trainspotters. I have not forgiven Crewe for that 3-9 aggregate loss in the early 1990s.

Result flattered them a little, but they were just a cut above every one of our players - except Sawyers. It's one thing to be the stand out against Blackpool, but another to have that touch of class against a team like Chelsea. There'll be no shortage of interest in him amongst any scouts there tonight, so I'd suggest we put a new contract on the table for him pretty sharpish.

At least three of their four goals were completely self-inflicted, which was pretty annoying. If I'm being really critical, I don't think either of our fullbacks covered themselves in glory, but that's no disgrace. If anything, Rico Henry will probably come out of that one a much better player in the long term.

Also thought the ref, Lee Mason, was excellent, which is a rarity at the Banks's. Makes you realise just how poor the standard of refereeing can be at our level at times.

See your point, but we had a couple of chances we should have done better with too. The guardian have also gone with 'slightly flattering' to describe the final score:
