Oldham Athletic (H) League One 25 Apr, 3pm
For our final home League One game this season we should be able to welcome a couple of familiar faces as Dean Holden brings the Latics to Bescot. He has the manager's job until the end of the season which is the same time frame given to Anthony Gerrard, signed on loan from Huddersfield Town. Antnee was subbed after 74 minutes in Oldham's last game, but it seemed to be tactical rather than from injury.
Oldham are currently on the same number of points as ourselves, but with an inferior goal difference (-11). Our strike force of Grimes/Manset saw us lose at Boundary Park back in October 2-1, and I'm optimistic about reversing that scoreline bearing in mind Oldham's current form:
28 Mar Bradford City (A) Lost 2-0
3 Apr Bristol City (H) Drew 1-1
6 Apr Crawley (A) Lost 2-0
11 Apr Sheffield United (H) Drew 2-2
14 Apr Coventry City (A) Drew 1-1
18 Apr Chesterfield (H) Drew 0-0
Not exactly inspiring - 4 points out of a potential 24 points. Our equivalent is 10 out of 24.
We seem to have found something of a goalscoring touch of late with 9 goals (only 1 from Bradders) in our most recent 3 games, and with no reported injuries Dean Smith can choose from a full squad. Hopefully he will take the opportunity of playing a couple of the youngsters now that relegation has been well and truly kicked into the long grass. If we play with anything like the flair that was displayed at Swindon, or at home to Crawley, there is the possibility of a 3-0 win here.

Walsall 1 - 0 Oldham
Bradshaw
Holden knows enough about Walsall to really restrict us. I think it'll be a dour affair unless we go with a similar approach to which we went with in the Swindon game. If that's the case Oldham are there for the taking! I think we'll get three points either way and Dean Smith would be correct with either approach.

A 1-1 draw, with Mantom scoring late on for us, in front of 4,419, including 432 from Oldham.

Smith trying to make a statement, it's a joke. Obviously since Tuesday o'donnell has told smith he's not signing a new deal
Shame Smith wasn't like this earlier in the season with other players. Maybe we'd be higher up the league

Or just giving an untested goalkeeper a try out in a nothing match?

Why's it a joke? If he's said he's definitely not staying, what's the advantage in playing him?

Cause the manager has threw his toys out the pram. You always play your strongest team that's available and he's available to play

Why are you all slagging Smith for giving the reserve keeper a run out in a nothing match? This used to happen at the end of seasons all the while years ago. You have to see if he is up to it. If ROD is going then it's more important to test him out.

That's why we'll never achieve anything with Smith & supporters that seem to be happy with him
The reason we lost at Wembley was because he didn't play strongest available side. He'll never take us into the play offs, but I guess most of you are happy with 14/15th every season

And there it is. You may be right about DS, but he is only doing what hundreds of managers have done over the years. Get off his back for this one. (and get over Wembley. It happened. It's over. Move on.)

I thought we used to crave mid-table obscurity. Now it's not good enough.
