Morecambe were good value for their first half lead as they always looked more likely to score; centre-forward Jack Sampson being a particular thorn in Walsall's side.
After the interval, the young Saddlers side took control but could not produce the finishing product.

Alex Jones, the triallist from the Bagladies, worked hard but did not trouble the visitors' 'keeper. Sam Mantom looked a little ring-rusty (not surprisingly) but managed just over an hour..
