Port Vale (H) League One Feb 14th, 3pm
It's local derby time (well, nearly) as we entertain the junior clayheads, who are currently 16th in the table, 4 points behind us and with a -8 goal difference. Leading scorer Ben Williamson was substituted a fortnight ago with an injury and hasn't figured since, but there's always the dangerous Tom Pope to consider. Vale may have a new face in their line-up, having signed Ryan Inniss on a month's youth loan this week. Inniss's parent club Crystal Palace have already sent him out on loan to Cheltenham, Luton and Yeovil. He's a 19-year old defender and former England youth international. Vale have only won 3 games on their travels so far this season (at Doncaster, Colchester, and Crawley) and lost 9 times away - their current form:
10 Jan Chesterfield (A) Lost 3-0
17 Jan Peterborough (H) Won 2-1
24 Jan Crewe Alexandra (H) Lost 0-1
31 Jan Barnsley (A) Lost 2-1
7 Feb Bradford City (H) Drew 2-2
10 Feb Bristol City (A) Lost 3-1
The comment has already been made on another thread about Port Vale's signing of Tony Richards back in the early 60's, and that move certainly led to a degree of ill-feeling on our part (I was devastated at the time!!); only since then have I realised that Tony's future at Walsall was not looking too bright because of his increasing injuries. Nevertheless he went off to Vale and continued his free scoring performance for quite some time.
It doesn't look as though Tom Bradshaw will be available for this game, but as long as other players keep pitching in as they have done I see no reason why we can't logically hope for 3 points which may well push us into the top 6......
Undoubtedly Dean will have had a few words to say to the defence after Tuesday's second-half wobble against Rochdale, so I'll go for a 2-0 home win, with Sawyers (he's got to score some time) and goal-a-game Jordy Hiwula to figure.

Is it just me, or is the fact that Port Vale at home is a Category A game simply hilarious? We appear to have a number of significant players out tomorrow, so we may struggle.
Therefore, a 0-2 defeat, in front of 4,886, including 920 from Boslem.

Going to be difficult if we have players unavailable, against usually a very ugly and awkward vale side.
Going to stay positive and say 2-1 saddlers. Hiwula and Sawyers. Pope for fail he always gets one.

Worried about our attack with possibly both Cook and Forde out. Which means Baxo and Grimes?

If both forde and cook are out, I'd put Henry on the left, he's lightening quick & has a trick, looks to me he could be a natural on the left wing.
Grimes gets the nod for me ahead of bax.

I think this is a 1-1 draw. I agree I'd rather see Henry on the field than Bax. Att 5167 with a decent away following.

Is there any fixture that warrants the category 'A' :? We are all as cack as each other.

I'm tipping all the Wembley fans to turn up and we annoy them with a dour 0-0.
Attendance estimated at 15,000 with thousands locked out but many climbing in.

On my way from Heathrow. Been stuck in a traffic jam on the A41 for 40 minutes and counting.
2-0. Jordy 2. 4998 in attendance, 4997 if I don't make it, or don't get there in time to buy a ticket.

Re: Port Vale (H) League One Feb 14th, 3pm
Port Vale boss Rob Page told BBC Radio Stoke:
"Dean Smith's got a style of play that he doesn't really tweak too much, so we know exactly what we're going to come up against.
"Their home form is not as good as their away form but they've got a threat up front".
Too predictable?

That man Pope AGAIN! has he EVER NOT scored against us since he was at Port Fail?
Looking at the bench, I would guess that Deano has 'given up' on the League now, just bedding in more youngsters for next season, after all, the Tin Pot trophy will do for now...crikey we will need an extension to the trophy room!
Another home defeat looms it would appear, and what is it about Rochdale? 2-0 down after 7 minutes?

Winning back to back home games in 4 days was a bit too much to ask really.
And as we see every weekend there is hardly anything in difference from 5th to 15th in this league between sides.

How on earth are we losing to this rabble. Hit the woodwork twice and had three penalty appeals turned down. Ref needs to get a grip coz the burslem arms are playing the man before the ball every time.

Unless I'm forgetting someone, I'm pretty sure that our 18 today comprises every fit member of our senior squad bar Morris, Heath, Roberts, Bakayoko & Benning (all out on loan). The starting line-up & bench picked itself through necessity today.
