Although we're only 3 points away from the play-offs, other results have pushed us back down to 14th place in the table. The tightness of this League can be seen by the fact that we are in a bunch of 9 teams separated by only 3 points !!! :shock:

In all honesty, I think we set up to play counter attack at home anyway. The difference is the other team are pretty happy to sit back too. That's why the first goal at Bescot is so crucial. We score, the other team have to come out and play, letting us counter attack like we'd want to. They score it and we have to go looking for a goal, leaving us more open at the back

That's my observation anyway, but I usually talk schizer!!

By all accounts, it seems like we won "ugly", and beat some relegation fodder, two things we've been struggling with all season, and that the team (and Smith) have been criticised for failing to do. Plentiful reason to be cheerful in itself.

Interested to hear reports from those who were there, but that was probably the least surprising good result of our season - if that makes sense. We're the epitome of a mid-table League One side at the moment. We might have shown ourselves to bottle it whenever we've got within touching distance of the playoffs, but we also have a pretty good record of not suffering two bad results in a row.

Another thing that feels a little strange to say is how good it is to score two, and win, without Bradshaw having his name on the scoresheet. Don't get me wrong, he's class, but if we've got any chance of finishing above halfway, the likes of Forde, Sawyers, Cain, and Cook need to score more regularly.

Sums it up really. We've probably got the players in a mediocre division, as long as our sole effective striker stays fit, for a play-off run, but it might be beyond the aptitude of our players and possibly the tactical nous of our manager. Jury's still out on that even 4 years down the line, but at least we play football.

Still, in the words of my fave "Rejoice, rejoice". It's a start and at least there won't be 15 pages of cack filling the message board tonight.
