Yes, those penalties are incredibly taxing
Does this constitute a cup run? Hopefully that goal is what Manset needs. Grimes almost sent off for kicking the ball away AGAIN. Tit.
Almost an entirely different team tonight too, do we finally have a SQUAD?

Re: Rochdale (A) Football League Trophy Tues 7th Oct 7.30pm
Well, well pleased with that. :D Shows a lot of character to come back to the place you got thumped 4 - 0 and to keep a clean sheet and win! And, as others have pointed out, using some of the less-frequently-played members of what we must now call a SQUAD! I kept saying it wasn't fair to judge Smithout until he had a more-or-less full squad to choose from. QED. (Even though he had a rather thin squad to choose from tonight! )
Can anyone tell me how Rochdale's line-up compared with the one last time and their "preferred" team? Did they have a lot of first-teamers out?
Irrespective of that, got to be well chuffed with this performance. One thing I liked: instead of us heading the attempts on goal and attempts on target, but losing or drawing, the boot was on the other foot tonight.
Very much looking forward to reports from the hardy few! :D

Just back, saw that a chunk of the M6 was shut, not good for the brave few who travelled up from God's country.
Great result. Could have gone either way to be fair but we matched them physically and put bodies on the line when it mattered. They had a lot of corners and free kicks in dangerous areas and on the whole coped with them well. it helped having Purkiss and his extra inches on several occasions.
Manset took his goal well and worked his socks off. Cambers and Downing had fine games and the whole midfield put in a right shift.
The ref was poor but probably gave Grimes a huge benefit of the doubt when the letter of the law should have probably resulted in a red. Two bookings for kicking the ball away would have been brain dead. The fact the ref let him off doesn't make it less brain dead.
So, a good night. Que sera sera. My motm would have been James Chambers. Just what you need on a night like tonight. He has to start on Saturday.

Just got back.....VENGENCE!!!!!
Mr Monsay got his first goal, he worked very hard throughout his time in the match, though he may have to lose a few stone if he is hoping to become a 20 goal a season striker!
No repeat of the wishy washy powder puff approach from the earlier mauling thank god.
Very pleased with the teams performance, when we attacked it was exciting because unlike earlier in the season, we actually looked as if we could score.
Very impressed with Pukiss's endevours (MOTM in IMHO) closely followed by Baxendale who ran his socks off throughout the match, though he needs to add a few stone in order to be more effective.
Not very happy with the way we sat back in the second half hoping to cling to our slender advantage, Rochdale have a good squad, all of whom are capable of scoring, and it got a little bit squeaky bum time towards the end when the awful ref felt in necessary to add an extra 5 minutes (where did that come from?). Although when we did occasionally break out of defence, we did look dangerous, except when Cook broke loose on his own and passed it gently to their goalie!!
A good night all round, can't wait for Saturday, this too will be quite a challenge.
I may have missed something whilst at the match, but has Butler gone back or was he 'cup tied by the Blades?
Onwards and upwards..... (good away turn out by the way on a wet, cold, miserable, Tuesday night Mickey Mouse cup match.)

O'connor. Just cos Chambers is better, as is Purkiss and indeed Kinsella.

I really like Purkiss, but he lacks the pace of all the others,
