Reserves v. Port Vale 24/9/14

Thu Sep 25, 2014 12:25 am

Walsall 1-2 Port Vale

Saddlers
Craig MacGillivray

Ben Purkiss (Luke Delaney, 45 min.)
Dean Holden
Kyle Rowley (Lewis Probert, 78 min.)
Rico Henry

Liam Kinsella
Billy Clifford
Kieron Morris
Levi Rowley (Jordan Sangha, 78 min.)

Jordan Murphy
Amadou Bakayoko

Unused substitute
Dan Jezeph (gk)

Manager:- Richard O'Kelly

The club "DNA" is now apparently firmly embedded in the second string, i.e. be on top in a match and yet lose it. Vale built up a 2-0 lead with, admittedly, two cracking shots from outside the penalty-area, in 26th and 39th minutes, by their former World Cup player, Chris Birchall. We did pull one back with a header from youngster Kyle Rowley in the 51st minute but the same old problem was all too evident. No sign of Sam Mantom or Jordan Cooke, though.

Smith said he now had a fully fit squad for Saturday,I would have thought Mantom and Cook would have played this game.

Sorry Bob, I was looking forward to reading your report but you lost me quite early on. I think it was around the time you started making reference to impossible events, something about shots outside the area. Can you explain this concept further?

Thanks JonnyOwen.
Very pacey game and very hard to find space.
All the goals were very good too - these reserve games look like they are well worth watching!

It's what opposing teams do, Dave. We're not allowed to - it's in our DNA, you see.
