Yeovil now 2 up and Rochdale have knocked one in.

And as soon as I say that Bradford have pulled one back against Yeovil.

This sounds utterly absymal.

Smith already has his excuses on the BBC in the preview of this game.

Sounds like a congested midfield and a lack of possession are not helping today .

I always like to have a team with promising youngsters but there are too many in this side, with Adam Chambers the average age of our squad is 23.8 years. You can't win nothing with kids and both us and Colchester are evidence of this, there average age is lower than ours today at 22.6.

0-0 at half time, wonder if Smith can deliver a team talk to improve things.

Baxendale on for Clifford and Forde on for Morris.

And we are only 4th from bottom as Scunthorpe are losing.

Attendance 4,009, including 147 away.

They all must be right riveted.

I said it in Febuary and ill say it again, Dean Smith has taken us as far as he can.

Even if we win this I will stand by that view.

We have so many players missing, it really is impossible to judge Smith on this or any other performance until they are all back.

A 20 year old central midfielder at right back, Morris and Flanagan playing. An unfit Manset, a right back at Centre half. It's a complete and utter mess. I can't remember having such a threadbare squad ever. Combination of bad luck and injuries.

O'Donnell

O'Connor
Downing
Chambers
Taylor

Clifford
Mantom
Chambers

Cook
Manset
Bradshaw

All fit and firing. That side looks about 2 divisions above the one playing today.

Baxendale I think is most likely to open something up...either through a shot or creative run or pass.....the most neglected asset of the Walsall team. He should always be started or brough on as impact sub with at least half the game remaining. He brings some electricity.

According to Mick Kearns 'the Colchester goalkeeper has put on weight during the game.'

Rochdale are 4-0 up at Crawley, having won 5-2 at Crewe last week. Not bad for a side with a budget lower than us.
