Leicester City (H) 30/07/14 Pre-Season Friendly 7:30pm
Sorry if this isn't the usual detailed match preview but thought I better start one now.
#WalsallFC XI: O'Donnell; Taylor, O'Connor, Downing, Chambers A, Sawyers, Baxendale, Benning, Chambers J, Grimes, Trialist
Subs: Roberts; Holden, Bradshaw, Jezeph, Morris, Heath, Bakayoko, Kinsella, Henry, Trialist
One trialist is Webber, other one apparently Mathieu Manset.

Although from what it says on wiki, he signed a 18 month contract with Royal Antwerp in January?

Just been listening to the above, commentators really impressed with our lot.....NOT
Asked who has impressed him for the home side? "Sawyers, looks capable, otherwise an utterly average league one side, without much creativity, they need to speed up a little, Grimes is a little go-getter, but has failed to impress, good work by the ball girl"
Says it all really....Im sayin nowt......

Goodness only knows. I know Mantom, Cook and Purkiss are all still injured but where are McGillivray and Flanagan?

I think we may be playing some sort of 4-3-3. Unless it's Bax in the centre.
2-0 Leicester, bit of a worldy apparently. Radio Leic commentators have said 'Walsall would look miles better if they countered and moved the ball forward much quicker'. Can you feel the sense of shockwave?
Commentators referring to 'Manset'.

..which is precisely the sort of thing the rest of the Premier League will be saying about Leicester. Down by Christmas - hopefully.

Manset did well, strong, low cross from the left, near post finish from Grimes.

"Great goal from distance" Oh well, a worldly.
On a more positive note, Everton lost to them a few days ago. We'm have a better forward line than Everton. (without Lukaku) :)

Re: Leicester City (H) 30/07/14 Pre-Season Friendly 7:30pm
With so many second-half changes (by both teams), it is difficult to draw too many conclusions. There were positives to draw but one thing continues to concern me - namely, how poor we are in the air in defence now that Butler has gone. OK, Leicester are a Premier League team, two levels above us, but those faults were equally glaring against a Conference side, Alfreton, from two levels BELOW.
I have confidence that DS and ROK will sort the attacking play out, once all the players are fit (I see that Flanagan was sitting in the stand, watching, tonight) but the defensive shortcomings need to be addressed as a matter of urgency - and no, I don't think that Purkiss will be the answer.

Re: Leicester City (H) 30/07/14 Pre-Season Friendly 7:30pm
To be perfectly honest, I think we looked good once they scored two. It kicked us up a gear, and from Manset scoring to them scoring their 3rd goal and 2nd worldy, we looked really good and well in the game. To be fair to us as well, their 3rd goal came at a time where we have 3 first year pro's on the pitch and two second years - against premier league opposition, it was bound to happen!
Baxo played centrally alongside Chambers, and looked alright, tracked back well and did the more dirty stuff. His passing was a bit off at times, but he did okay considering he was out of position for the most part. Manset looked class, really tried hard and chased down the goalkeeper, which I think instantly made him a fan favourite since he ain't lazy...
Grimes played out of position on the right, and he didn't really do anything which is expected to be honest - but when he got his opportunity and was in the box, he scored very, very clinically.
Surprisingly hopeful after this performance, much more than what I was before it anyway.
