If we don't win this we've got serious problems Tranmere are supposedly making a number of changes they don't seem to be taking the competition seriously. They are expecting a crowd of around 2500.

If they beat Oxford United in the F.A. Cup 2nd round replay they will have Swansea City at home in the 3rd round, with every prospect of a good attendance plus payout for getting there, TV income etc. Jason Koumas still seems to have some fire in his belly, looking at the highlights of the 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Not what I read on the Football Forum. Tranny fans excited and they've become a lot more stubborn, defensively sound (negative maybe) under Adams, who did the same with Vale - which is worrying, as everytime we played the Vale in recent years, they pressed us on the ball when they were without it and looked a threat from crosses and set pieces.
A very hard fought 1-0 victory with Super T coming off the bench to notch a late prod in at the back post.
250 Saddlers tops IMO, anything more would be great.

Blackheath Saddler wrote:Biggest cup game in years and all some posters want to do is use this thread to have silly digs at fans who want Smith out and not the upcoming game itself. I dont get it we're Walsall fans we're supposed to stick together surely? Cant we just concentrate on getting behind the lads please?UTS
We can and should stick together in supporting the team on the pitch. IMHO we can groan but we shouldn't moan at players on the pitch for making mistakes etc - unless they clearly can't be a-rsed, and the management should deal with that. Generally speaking, players perform better when they are encouraged rarther than vilified. Having said that, different players have different styles: when you watch Bony for Swansea, he sometimes seems, shall we say, a little bit laid back but give him a decent through ball or a sniff at goal and he's dynamite. And he puts in a damn good shift in defence when the need arises.
However, fans have a right to different opinions, which means we can't always "stick together". For instance, we are divided into Smithouts and Smithins on the board and both factions have reasonable arguments available (which is not to say all the arguments put forward are reasonable!). So we can beg to differ and put our arguments and even have a bit of "ban-tah", as long as we don't get, shall we say, personal for no good reason.
Here endeth the third lesson. Amen.

Re: Tranmere Rovers (A) Tues Dec 9th 7.45pm FLT Area semis
Just noticed that Preston are still in it! So why are we all bothered?
Even if we struggle past another lower league team, as Whitters put it "it'll all end in tears" (MOG mode! :( )
It's been like this for as long as I can remember, we could beat Manure 3-0 at home and then wimp out 3-1 away at Millwall in the next round....it's the Worsul way. :) :)
Seriously though, I do hope we come away with a result, like Belg & PT, I can't make it tonight either, so I'm hoping those that do go encourage the lads to play like they can on occasions (Fleetwood etc).
Come on me babbies!!!!

Is it because we have the third best record in the league against teams in the top half, Tone?
Not bothered about Preston or whoever we face if we get through. It's games like tonight that should worry us more.

IF we get past tonights game, I dont think Preston would be the biggest worry, they should be more concerned about the league and FA cup, and the possible fixture congestion they may encounter.
It would be interesting to play Doncaster and come up against Andy Butler, and Notts County would be difficult over 2 legs.

On page 2 before the game starts - who says it's a micky mouse competition
If we get through tonight then I'm doing a Cowshed :D With our defence we are difficult to beat over two legs in the final (I know Shrewsbury beat us but I did say difficult, not impossible) so I fancy us against anyone in the area final
I'll go for a cagey 1-0 win in front of 2874. Sawyers for us.

Re: Tranmere Rovers (A) Tues Dec 9th 7.45pm FLT Area semis
After 20 minutes, it's all the threes.........
We've had 3 attempts on goal (none on target)
Tranmere have had 3 corners (no goal attempts)
Tranmere have committed 3 fouls (none for us)
Tranmere caught offside 3 times (none for us)
Odds drifting slightly, Tranmere now 5/2 with the Draw 7/4. We're still 5/4 fav.

This link should work. Otherwise, find the station by Google. That's what I did.
