Gillingham (H) League One, Sun 1st Feb at 6.00pm
Back to the realities of League One both for ourselves and Gillingham, who managed a draw at Bristol City but lost out 5-3 on aggregate in the Southern area final of the JPT. Gillingham are one place below us in the League One table, and are on the lookout for a young, dynamic manager (the words of their Chairman) to replace Peter Taylor who was shown the door a month ago. They're currently managed by a committee of four......... Their current form:
3 Jan Port Vale (A) Lost 2-1
6 Jan Bristol City (H) Lost 2-4 (JPT 1st leg)
10 Jan Crewe Alexandra (A) Lost 3-1
17 Jan Coventry City (H) Won 3-1
24 Jan Oldham Athletic (H) Won 3-2
29 Jan Bristol City (A) Drew 1-1 (JPT 2nd leg)
Gillingham's away form was very poor until December, when they recorded their first League One wins, at Doncaster Rovers and Colchester United. Our game at Gillingham resulted in a 0-0 draw (we didn't have Bradshaw, and Grimes played for 86 minutes), and that point kept us just above the relegation fodder but only on goal difference.
Can't recall any noteworthy injury problems from Tuesday's exertions against Preston (pnethor, where are you?), so SMITHIN should have a full squad apart from Mantom from which to select. A good attendance may be in prospect if people try to establish a booking history before the Wembley tickets go on sale, and I see no reason why we can't get 3 points. Let's say 2-0 to the Saddlers, with Bradshaw and Sawyers scoring.

Be interesting to see the crowd for this. A Wembley bounce or will people be saving for Wembley? Like Darth says, there's a lot less going on on a Sunday evening than a Saturday afternoon with less people needing to work too.
I think we'll just top 4,000 but will unfortunately lose the game. Gillingham are a decent side and our home league form is awful. I'm having the carvery though, with it being a Sunday and all.

Re: Gillingham (H) League One, Sun 1st Feb at 6.00pm
Apparently, Gillingham were offered either 6.00 p.m. on Sunday or 7.45 p.m. on Monday and they chose the former. As chester said, the market precludes an afternoon k.o. on a Sunday.

A 1-1 draw against an improving Gillingham side, in front of 3,503, including 110 away.

My cousin's daughter is getting married March 22nd so he had a really tough decision to make (until he talked to his wife - then, no contest. He can't afford a divorce   ).
He's never been to Wembley, either.

Sky bet quotes these odds at kick-off
Walsall to win............. 4/5 fav
The draw................... 5/2
Gillingham win........... 7/2
Seems a trifle optimistic to me. :D
A win today and we'll be in the top half of the table.......

Manset on the way out?
Watching Footy League show last night was infuriating, there were literally dozens of recent excellent loan signings on display from numerous teams, one team in particular had seven new signings in their squad....what exciting new faces do we see? "What you have is what you'll get" (again).
An 'After the Lord Mayors show' display today, I'm hoping for 1-1 draw at best.

4-1, James Chambers booked (first foul, first yellow as usual).
Disappointing we've had six shots, four on target and no goals.

We seem to be well on top according to BBC stats, but the Gills have just come close with a header, a win today would put us up with the top half but with all those around us with plenty of games in hand, so a win today is essential. Come on me babbies!!!

1 shot off target for the Gills, and none on target. The first one on target will probably hit O'Donnell's net.

James Chambers has just committed his third foul, and he's already been booked.....better be careful. :?
Pritchard of Gillingham booked, 41 min.
Half-time and it's still 0-0....I do hope this isn't another Crawley, with us having hundreds of shots and losing 1-0 :( :(

Looks like this is one of those 0-0s, feck all happens type of games, Gillingham always seems to be opposition that produce boring games aswell.
Think the first 11 is looking pretty jaded now particularly after the great effort on Tuesday.
Could do with a loan or two to freshen things up, starting tomorrow.
