Taylor is a great player but please can some one else take the free kicks. He came to us with a tag of being a dead ball specialist but apart from one sublime goal he mostly balloons it over the bar. He has got at least hit the target. The guy who won the crossbar challenge looks a good candidate.

Anyone know what `side bars`are?

Why do we have to suffer this every time, yet when we win he is nowhere to be seen?

Either go to the games and support & then come on here with your thoughts or just go away.

Amazing attendance all things considered, the Orient fan was someway of his prediction of 1200 away fans though

There were many of us in 'O' block. Geoff Dance and Ray Graydon included!!! Supporting Walsall of course. :D

So 3 people equates to nearly 600? I know they say you get less for your money in London but that's ridiculous...

Didn't think one of those blocks held that many

I've never been good with numbers!! I'm in Walsall until Tuesday if you'd like to give me yours!

Are you coming on to me 'O' in the middle?

That sounds so wrong.

A game of 2 half's but overall they were there for the taking.

we might aswell played brandy and milan up front as both looked sharper than sawyers and westcarr.

this would be my 442

o'donnell
chambers downing butler taylor
bax mantom chambers benning
brandy milan

well done to the guy who won the crossbarr challenge and hope that the elderly fan who stumbled down from the steps is ok
good to see that the community stand was near on enough full, rather this than empty seats.

I felt sorry for the lads yesterday had the ball that hit the post crept in the game was over, although they had the majority of the ball second half only 2 saves the gk had to make, was cruel and the only way I could see them scoring, defense looked alot better with j chambers at rb. But agree with the comment they were there to be had, very suspect defensively particularly there lb, he had no awareness on were his positioning should be, and we should have taken full advantage of that. What was the score with the Lino flagging for offside only for the ref to over rule and give a corner, shocking. Only critiscm I can have on smith is the fact that when they can at us he didn't make any formation or substitute change to break the momentum. Mantom was my motm, never swung either way on the whole westcarr debacle but yesterday he was bloody lazy besides a few decent runs,

The playoff dream is over and we should be safe. I somehow have begun to see games in a different light from previously.

Andy Taylor should be banned from taking free kicks, they are woeful.

Westcarr - I can imagine there will be a big debate over him come the Summer. In the formation we play we need either a big bustling forward who will hold the ball up, or someone who is lightening quick to get in behind defences. Westcarr sits smack bang in the middle of this. Don't get me wrong we would be a lot worse off this season had it not been for his 12 goals but this season if coming to a close. If we want to progress next season we need something different. The difficult decision is do you then keep Westcarr on the books? Is he better than Sawyers in the behind the striker role? Can he play on the right or left as part of a 3 man attack? Is he a wage that can be used to attract a striker?

Having played this system all season, is now the time to try something different? A chance to work with the team on different formation that can be used next season alongside what we have done well in large parts of this one? Should we use some of the younger pros to give them first team experience in preparation? We have talked a lot about our development of players but we haven't seen a younger pro break through this season that we have developed ourselves.

In essence then my different outlook on games is to raise even more questions! I trust Deano to provide the answers, if we are able to keep him.

I thought we started off bright yesterday, but every time Sawyers got the ball he gave it away with silly flicks or slowed the tempo down so much trying to make his mind up what to do with the ball, the opposition had time to regroup.

I'd change Westcarr for Hewitt and Sawyers for Baxendaledale at Bradford.

Second week in a row that we have been undone by a flukey goal. It must be really hard on the the whole team when that happens. Perhaps our luck will change in the week; we deserve some.

I think you will see some players stepping up from the Youth/Reserves next season as he reshuffles (not too much I hope) the first team squad.

Don't forget that Deano is still learning his trade too.

Felt that the performance was much better yesterday with Mantom back, but the old failing of a lack of punch stopped us winning convincingly (again). Defence pretty solid and O'Donnell in good form when Orient did break through (apart from one odd punch in the first half). The front four alternating was interesting, but didn't really solve the problem. Westcarr looks shot and Sawyers, who could be brilliant, overelaborates when a quick pass or shot would be better. Frustrating when Posh seem to regularly stumble and we can't take advantage.

Orient fan staying with us said we were as good as anyone they've played this season over the 3 games with them. He also recognised the key issue for us was a lack of a focal point. He felt Orient were lucky to get anything yesterday.

We started exceptionally well yesterday and Orient couldn't cope with us. Our failure to go into half time 2 or 3 up after the chances we had, was ultimately what cost us, along with a ridiculous slice of bad luck. Again.

I'm hugely frustrated we didn't win yesterday, but I don't think we can be too critical of the team's performance. We matched a side that's been in the top 3 all season, and restricted them to just the couple of shots on target (note the goal was a shot of target). We even looked dangerous from set pieces, which was a very welcome change. Yes, they were probably the better side in the second half, but they were always going to give it a good go - after all, anything less than a win would do their top 2 hopes no favours. Generally, I thought we handled things well.

The one thing I would say about players' performances is that Westcarr looks absolutely gone. I'm not sure whether it's a fitness thing, a motivational thing, or even a confidence thing, but he's the shadow of the player we saw just before Christmas. That said, the sign of how thin our squad is, is that I'd still pick him over Hewitt or Ngoo. Smith really does need to take a look at that department in the summer though, because we've lacked someone who truly wants to play as our focal point up front all season.

Everyone else's performance was a 7/10, and it was good to see Downing look back at his best again.

Like a couple of others have already said, I hate it when people start playing the 'bad luck' card, but the run we've had since Butler conceded that penalty against Crawley really has been the stuff of nightmares. Taking the two huge deflections alone, we'd only be four points behind Peterborough had they not gone in - and that's ignoring a freak own goal and a really daft penalty.

Oh, and what is it about the officials in League One at the moment? Some of the decisions the ref made yesterday were so bad they were almost comical - for both sides.

I'd like to see Baxendale in for Sawyers Tuesday night. Sawyers needs toughening up he's got all the attributes to be a quality player but the way he jumps out of tackles is pathetic its as though he's scared of getting hurt. Teams know all you need to do against Sawyers is put a foot in they've won the ball everytime

as my previous post

we should try brandy and milan up front.
it's quite funny when brandy is on the ball and gets surrounded by 2-3 defenders.
maybe create space for others when attacking?

swayers is to laid back and looses the ball quiet often and westcarr is non-exsistance.

maybe bring in hemmings and bax on the wings or could even try benning?

I don't know where all this criticism for Sawyers is coming from. I thought he was MOTM yesterday, and was sort of acting like both an attacking midfielder and a striker because of Westcarr's lack of effort.

I've been saying the same thing about Brandy ages ago. Or even Kieron Morris into he mix?

Sawyers isn't a tough-tackler by any means, but he's about the only player in our side who looks like creating a chance. I don't think the fact that he jumps out of tackles is a strong enough reason to drop him.

Can anybody offer an insight as to why the crowd was so big yesterday?

From what I could see it was the Family Stand that was a lot more populated than usual?

Imo Sawyers hasnt been playing great for some time now i just feel Baxendale deserves a chance in his proper position and not on the wing weather Sawyers is tired i dont know? I dont feel hes had the same impact in games as he did before
