Crewe Alexandra (H) League One Tues 11 Mar, 7.45pm
If ever there was an ideal occasion to halt a losing run, a home game against Crwho provides the perfect opportunity. They lie deep in the relegation scrap, currently occupying 22nd place in the table with 35 points from 35 games. Even taking into account our lack of ability to score, it should be noted that Crewe's goal difference is THE worst in League One, a mighty MINUS 27 goals. Their most recent 6 games in League One look like this:
8 Feb Bradford City (A) Drew 3-3
15 Feb Brentford (H) Lost 1-3
22 Feb Port Vale (A) Won 1-3
25 Feb Stevenage (A) Lost 1-0
1 Mar Swindon Town (H) Drew 1-1
8 Mar Peterborough United (A) Lost 4-2
Having said that, it should not be forgotten that Crewe have actually scored 10 goals in their last 6 games....in our last six games we've scored 3. Food for thought there.
Chuks Aneke is Crewe's leading scorer by a country mile, having 13 goals to his name this season. It's worth bearing in mind that he scored both goals at Peterborough, giving Crewe an early lead and then equalising later in the game.
A win could well lift us back up to 7th place in the table, as Swindon Town and MK Dons both have fixtures that could be tricky. Let's break our dismal spell with a thumping 3-0 victory with goals from Sawyers, Baxendale and Hemmings (coming on as a sub for the ineffectual Lalkovic). :D

Don't care where a win comes from.
I'll take 1-0 with Westcarr to score with his piece.
McCarey to fight with Dario Gradi after the game for the Most Gracious Loser award.
200 dingles to get a bit confused and turn up anyway.

1-0, Ikeme to head in the winner when he stumbles forward after being shoved by a rather small female police officer.

That would be a wonderful tribute to the late Julie Dale.

Walsall to go two nil up (two own goals as we cor score) and then hanging on for dear life after Crewe pull one back.
Cue non stop play off talk thereafter until the next loss.

Re: Crewe Alexandra (H) League One Tues 11 Mar, 7.45pm
Please don't embarrass us any further lads (though I think they will) another home defeat, to relegation candidates is unthinkable, but we cor score, and this 'chukky' fella seems to be able to knock 'em in despite playing for a pitifully weak team. :?
At this moment in time, it's roll on 51 points as soon as possible! As 'Lord' Sallian says, we need to spend all our training sessions having shooting practice.
Plan 'c' has to be put into motion for next season, there will be no Brandy or Lalk to rely on.

Bescot is turned a sea of red as the mighty Saddlers win 5-0 against a hapless Crewe outfit. Westcart with 2, Brandy with 2 and Butler in front of 3235

Re: Crewe Alexandra (H) League One Tues 11 Mar, 7.45pm
Tonight's formation I would like to see 4-4-2 for a change.
O'Donnell
Purkiss J. Chambers Butler Taylor
Brandy McQuilken A. Chambers Hemmings
Westcarr Hewitt
More direct football required after last Saturdays tippy-tappy backwards-fest. In the absence of Mantom, give McQuilken a try. Featherstone is more a defensive midfielder and plays that role well when we are protecting a lead (remember those days?) but ineffective when we are looking to seize the imitative. Reports from reserve games suggest McQuilken isn't afraid of having a shot from distance either.

Can you provide more information on this revolutionary new tactic?

Re: Crewe Alexandra (H) League One Tues 11 Mar, 7.45pm
Surely we can score acouple of goals against the league's poorest defence? My only worry us that Hewitt gets dropped for Westcarr. It would seem a opportunity wasted to see what he can do especially since Smith thought it would be a good idea to play against the league's meanest defence last Saturday.

In those happy days of long ago, the Centre-half (No. 5) was what you might call a midfielder, yes, because he played in front of the two full-backs. :D

SkyBet match odds pre-kickoff......
Walsall to win....... 4/5
The draw............12/5
Crewe to win.......15/4
