Peterborough United (A) League One Fri Feb 14th 7.45pm
In a change to the advertised programme we have a Valentine's Day visit to Peterborough for a match that can truly be termed a 6-pointer. In recent weeks the teams have been jousting for a play-off position, and just when it seemed we were sitting pretty we surrender 0-3 to the Dongs while the Posh score twice in the last three minutes to win at Leyton Orient. It's a funny old game........
Peterborough started the season scoring for fun, and if it wasn't for a bit of a disaster over the Christmas & New Year period when they lost four games on the trot they would be in a much healthier position. As it is, only one point separates us - but we have to contend with Friday's fixture without the services of Andy Butler, and we can only hope that his team mates show the kind of team spirit that apparently was lacking against Franchise FC. Peterborough's recent League One form........
1 Jan Brentford (H) Lost 1-3
11 Jan Swindon Town (A) Lost 2-1
18 Jan Tranmere Rovers (H) Won 3-0
21 Jan Notts County (H) Won 4-3
25 Jan Oldham Athletic (A) Lost 5-4
8 Feb Leyton Orient (A) Won 1-2
Britt Assombalonga heads Peterborough's scoring charts with a very impressive 22 goals to his name. Perhaps he had an off day when playing at ours back in November, being substituted near the end of a game we won convincingly 2-0.
I would love to think we can do the double over Posh, but in the light of recent performances I'm thinking we will do well to come away with a draw. There are still many fixtures where we can make up lost ground, hopefully with meteorological conditions which will suit the kind of football we know we can display. For Friday, however, I'll go for a hopeful 1-1 with Westkaka rediscovering his form.

Re: Peterborough United (A) League One Fri Feb 14th 7.45pm
Very nearly messed up my 100% this season when this moved, but thankfully got a coach ticket today. If not the only other option would be to train on my own, go to the game, and then kill time in Peterborough until about 1am when my dad can come and pick me up, and bear in mind I am only 17. Thankfully that doesn't have to happen
I will go with a 2-1 victory, Lalkovic scoring first with a worldy. Boro respond with Ajose scoring thanks to a mix up in defence. Late on in the second half Ngoo going on a tantalising run and bends one into the far corner and wins us back our play off spot.

Posh have a cup game on SKY monday night, and money talks (not that i'm complaining since it actually means I can get to this game).
Must not lose this game, but a draw wouldnt be the worst result in the world.
Lets have convincing 0-2 win with Ngooooooooo and Westcarrrrrrrrrrr.

As a fanatical Walsall fan of very long standing, who lives in Peterborough, I always look forward to this game. I will be meeting a number of friends in Wetherspoons in the town centre of Peterborough prior to the match. Wetherspoons tends to be the "in place" for away fans and is only a eight minute walk to the ground. You can park in the Cathedral car park which is just over the bridge if you pass the ground on your right. Hope to see some fellow Saddlers in Wetherspooons

So is this league game on sky as well, like the game at Bescot earlier in the season?
EDIT: Just checked their schedules and it appears it isn't! :? :|

Darren Ferguson said that their pitch is looking awful, but it will still probably go on.

If tonight does go ahead for me it is an absolute must not lose game and in a perfect world 3 points to the Saddlers. If things go the wrong way to night we could find ourselves in 8th place 5 points behind P'boro who would still have a game in hand. Tough set of fixtures coming up as well including Wolves, Preston and Cov that will ultimately decide our play off ambitions this season.

If you were feeling suicidal Zaddler's yer man! (thought that was my job!)
I still can't see the match going ahead though, the weather is closing in on the UK bigtime, again.....the pitch will be a quagmire....

Peterborough vs Walsall - Preview
Team News
Discontent is rising in the Peterborough ranks, with Posh fans less than impressed that Darren Ferguson’s early season unstoppable force has become less and less irresistable. Ferguson has, of course, reacted in the way that he knows best – coaxing Darragh MacAnthony to prise open that wallet of us and send a shower of cash cascading down to the lower leagues, like that Simpsons sketch when Mr. Burns lobs loads of coins off the roof of Moe’s and ends up lodging a nickle in Lenny’s head. For the purposes of this metaphor, Hartlepool United and Newport County can be Lenny, both having lost arguably their best players to the Ferguson and MacAnthony lower league talent duopoly on deadline day in the form of Jack Baldwin and

Sorry post did not meant to prompt anyone to stick their head in the oven but just realistic, results go against us and we could see ourselves 8 points behind Boro with some very tough games to come. However the flip side, if we do go and beat Posh to jump back into the playoff places it could be the result that sees them tumble into mid table obscurity as all is not well on board the good ship Daragh Macanthony.

Quote from Dean Smith, which made me smile.
"I've invited the wife down to Peterborough as a romantic gesture, as it's Valentine's Day, but I'm not sure she'll take me up on the offer."

It's still raining here at Posh. It will be interesting to see how the pitch stands up to wear that it is about to get.

After 15 minutes we are reported to have 60% of the play.
Febian Brandy has won free kicks on both the right and left wings - he must have a roving brief.....
... and elsewhere, George Bowerman gets the assist as Accrington Stanley take the lead at home to Scunthorpe United.

25 minutes, the first corner of the game (to us) - Michael Ngoo has a header on target but saved by the keeper.

I wish they wouldn't do that.....Sky just suspended all betting on our game, which usually means someone has scored. False alarm, still 0-0......
We're currently 5/2, Posh 13/8, and the draw 5/4 favourite.
