It was a great ball - perfectly weighted, and showed that there's a difference between an aimless big boot (Shrewsbury's back four) and a well-weighted pass.
The best thing about our current crop is that most of them, Downing included, will only get a lot better with time. He's already more than capable at League One level.
As with last season Smith has had to try to get too many key players to gel, which takes time. It's starting to happen again now, and they are individually improving, and also as a team.
Difference is, this season, we're withing touching distance of the top 6 with some good fixtures coming up for us, and the teams above us are playing each other over the next few weeks.
Add to that we've played most of the top teams away already and the signs are good.
We just need Kevin Phillips to top it off now. :mrgreen:
