Sheffield United (A) League One Tuesday 26th Nov 7.45pm
Off to lovely Bramall Lane, scene of past heroics (remember Ron Green?) to play the much-vaunted Blades. They have pretty much defied the form book so far this season, having had lots of money to spend - they are a BIG club, don't forget - but still find themselves in the bottom four on 15 points, two points adrift of Stevenage and Tranmere who both had impressive wins on Saturday. All right, the Blades did win as well, 0-1 at Bristol City, but it was an own goal !!
Sheffield United's last six League games look like this:
19 Oct Port Vale (H) WON 2-1
22 Oct Peterborough (A) DRAW 0-0
26 Oct Crewe Alexandra (H) WON 3-1
2 Nov Shrewsbury Town (A) LOST 2-0
16 Nov Gillingham (H) LOST 1-2
23 Nov Bristol City (A) WON 0-1
Manager Nigel Clough is on record this week-end as saying that "We would like to play with a bit more freedom and fluency. I think that will come in the future but for now we have to scrap". He certainly seems to follow that principle, keeping Florent Cuvelier (surely one of his better-quality footballers) on the bench for the whole game at Bristol. Young Westlake not even named in the squad possibly injured. No Febian Brandy of course, he's busy keeping fit while suspended.
Sheffield United - one of the few teams to have scored less League goals than we have (15 against our 19), but they've conceded 10 goals more than us. Their top goalscorer (Maguire) has 5 to his name, and looking at their line-up he seems to be more a midfielder than a striker. The next two highest scorers (Collins and Doyle) have 2 goals each but they also play behind the specialist strikers, if indeed there are any.
We have to be confident of getting at least a point out of this one, and I think a 0-2 win isn't out of the question. Westcarr and Lalkovic to do the honours.

We sent the Blades down!!!
Might be going hopefully. 1-1, dozens of missed chances, late equaliser for Sheff United.

Good news! Their top scorer (Maguire) is out of the game! :D

Says that he is a defender on that article, seems like they could do with a striker more than us.

He is a defender and one of their better/more overrated players. This season their strikers have scored fewer goals combined than Westcarr has on his own.

He's a 6ft 4 20 year old centre back and indeed their top scorer and he's not playing.Set up a attacking side Deano for this one.

Played well the last two seasons and left with nothing each time. Expect to put it right tomorrow 3-1 win. Westcarr, Mantom and Baxendale. 14,361 including 372 Saddlers

In that case, my attendance prediction looks dodgy as well

We should be beating this cack.
Ill go for the 1-0 away win, super professional. Westcarr to actually score 7. 6 disallowed because he is so good.

Another cold Tuesday night trip, i'll go for 3-0 in a performance very much like the Swindon game except we don't concede a consolation.

I know, I went and I saw 2 undeserved defeats after we outplayed them for large periods of the game. Expect the same tomorrow night is my guess.

First chance to see the lads for longer than I've been happy with, I hope we turn on a performance to match the Posh demolition. Would love us to come away with a win, but I predict 1-1 on a miserable freezing night at the home of the premiership wannabies.

Wonder if any of our ex contingent up there will haunt us tonight?
Sod it, two nil to Walsall, Taylor free kick then in the second half Flo forgets who he is playing for and lashes in a 25 yard volley into his own net.

A dynamic, play off chasing team like Walsall should be beating lowly, relegation fodder like Sheffield Utd.
How good does that sound? 8)
Walsall to win two nowt. Mantom and the awful Westcarr (who dow run abaht).

We've mullered them the last two seasons, but mistakes either end have cost us.
We're better at the back now, but we can't afford to miss chances again.

I still have nightmares about the horror pass from @Taundz that got Holden sent off last season. And we were still the better side.
2-0 tonight. Sawyers with both - a bicycle kick from the halfway line and a back-heeled corner that curls straight in.

Wasn't it Pato's pass back that got him send off? I seem to remember that, because at the time Pato was being hounded for not being good enough, and this added to it.

Hmmm...thinking about it you might be right. If so I apologise to @Taundz unreservedly. Whatever happened to Paterson? I actually thought he was alright...

Should never have released Taundry. He is better than that gashbag Westcarr any road.

Nigel Clough:
http://www.sufc.co.uk/news/article/2013 ... 97725.aspx? I'll go with a 0 - 2 to Walsall, Plenty of pace Westcarr to be double marked leaving Lalkovic and subbed on Hewitt to win us the prize. Boom.
"Walsall play almost the same way both at home and away. Dean (Smith) has given the club some real stability and season after season formulated a very competitive squad.
"They are well organised and are reaping the rewards of put some real solid foundations in place over a long period of time.
"Walsall are a great example to a lot of clubs, they are well run and achieve plenty whilst remaining to live within their means. For a number of years they have been a well run club with a good manager.
"The two wide lads, Lalkovic (on-loan from Chelsea) and Baxendale are probably as good as anything in the division, whilst Craig (Westcarr) has plenty of place down the middle."
On his own side, Clough added: "We have a tough five months ahead of us, but we remain confident that we have enough within the squad to survive at least.
"Staying up is the bottom line given our current position and at the moment that is our main focus.
"On Tuesday, I really want to see us building on Saturday's win, but again, we can't just come out and attack from the off, we must be mindful of keeping the game tight."

Plus any chance of free tickets has gone up the swannie.
I'm in a dilemma ... I want to go tonight and collect me pie and pint. The Mrs is late home.
I'm going for a 0-3 with around 600 Saddlers there.

I can't see Westcarr scoring, although there's a chance he'll hit the bar (at Hillsborough).

Taundry had (in my humble view) his best ever game for Walsall at Bramhall Lane. I thought he had undergone a lobotomy. 2-0 up when Gnakpa missed a sitter from 6 yards (which Westcarr would have buried  ) and we ended up losing 3-2.
