No offence, but that's one of the phrases that really sets my teeth on edge. It just doesn't make any sense. Of course it would be better to win one and lose one, but who goes out to play like that? So - you win the first game and then you think 'OK, might as well chuck this next game now because we'll still have done better than drawing both games' ? We try to win every game we play, just because doesn't pan out like that doesn't mean we'd have more success playing a different style. The phrase seems to suggest we can turn up and win games at will, and that in an ideal world we'd choose to win only 50% of our games. For some reason.
I think Sheff Utd are slightly better now than their league position indicates, so it's a decent point, just as it was at Crawley. Having to travel up and down the country in the space of four days in the busiest part of the season is hardly ideal, but then the Football League are idiots so what do you expect. We've got an interesting run of fixtures up until the middle of January. If we're in the top six by the end of those games then we can start getting excited. Steady accumulation will do me just fine.
Nevertheless, what tonight proves conclusively is that in a game of few chances we CANNOT rely on Westcarr up front. Erm, I mean...
