Comments
After four successive wins and last night's FA Youth Cup victory over our Potteries rivals, last night, the Reserves started off in confident mood. However, for all the possession and the pretty one-touch/two-touch football we only managed one goal. Vale snatched an equaliser, against the run of play, just before half-time but the visitors started the second half in determined mood, no doubt with the words of "encouragement" form their manager still ringing in their ears :D . Two goals in five minutes, early in the second period, wrapped matters up. There was no doubt that, for the third quarter of the game, Vale were the better team but, with the game slipping away from them, the Saddlers resumed their earlier control of the game. They actually forced the Vale keeper into making some good saves but it was all too little, too late. The damage had been done. For the Saddlers, Purkiss and Benning looked sound and Lewis did nothing wrong but nothing inspiring from the others, without actually playing badly.
To summarise - we played some lovely possession football but rarely troubled the opposing goalkeeper, allowing our opponents to snatch the points which SHOULD have been ours. Sound familiar?

What is the average attendance at home reserve games? Might start going if it is decent.
