What makes you think that?
I don't think it unreasonable to assume that there is a few extra bob to spend this year after unloading Brandy, Grigg and Patterson for a large wedge during the close season unless you have information to the contrary.
We have also had an increase this season from the Football League and I've also agreed to bring my troops for their annual company Christmas bash so the money is just rolling in!!
Don't believe we received any money for Brandy.
We have signed three players (albeit one on loan) who were part of Premier League squads last year. This will cost us more than the previous summers signings who were mainly found from Hereford and Cypriot settees.
We have extended the contracts of several players and the manager.
We have a hugely increased police bill.
In the last accounts we were still indebted to various board members for a total sum in excess of £2million and there's no reason to believe we may not have used any surplus cash to pay maybe the biggest of those down (and why shouldn't we? ).
We have made further investment in our youth set-up.
If we received £1.3m in total for Grigg and Paterson, there may not be an awful lot left after the above list. There may well be some left but I doubt it's a fortune. I'd say a cup run will be as useful as ever as I agree with the consensus on us being a decent striker (the most expensive asset in the game) short of being serious play-off contenders rather than mid-table.
