Brentford (A) League One - 24 Aug 2013
This thread's a bit early this week as a week in Cyprus beckons tomorrow morning......
Off we go to Brentford on Saturday, with whom we have unfinished business to be decided by a League tribunal in the matter of how many pennies we get for Will Grigg.
The bees narrowly missed out on promotion as you will recall, losing 1-0 in the play-off final to Doncaster Rovers. With their substantial financial backing, manager Uwe Rosler has been splashing the cash during the close season, and their competitive record so far this season reads:
Port Vale (A) League One drew 1-1 - August 3rd
Dagenham & Redbridge (H) League Cup won 3-2 - August 6th
Sheffield United (H) League One won 3-1 - August 10th
Gillingham (A) League One drew 1-1 - August 17th
Current League form has Brentford 2 points behind ourselves, on 5 points from 3 games played.
Young master Grigg has scored twice, both against Sheffield United - he then proceeded to take a penalty to get his hat-trick......and didn't score. In their most recent match away at Gillingham he was substituted in the 75th minute.......the substitute then went on to score the Blades' equaliser.

Five idiots behind the goal to heckle Merson.
Grigg to fall over his own hair and win a penalty which he misses.
Hemmings to take the rebound all the way down the other end.
He pauses to contemplate the irony of situation and the chance is gone.

Think we will do well to take anything.
1-0 Brentford.
Grigg with a late goal to show the tribunal system up even further.

Toughest game so far. We've kind of got out of jail in our last three games against poorer opposition so it looks like our first loss of the season to me. 2-0.

All to negative about this game on here so far. No reason why we can't go and beat them, and I think we will.
2-1 to Walsall, in a game when we create enough chances to win 3 games.
Andy Butler to have a 100% pass completion ratio.

I can't be there but I hope there is so much hostility towards Will Grigg the Scunthorpe

I think that's why we'll get a result. Smith will have them all fired up to get one over on their team mate that deserted them, and didn't think they were good enough to play with him.
All led by Andy Butler kicking him up in the air in the first minute.

Brentford 2 - 2 Walsall
Westcarr and Butler with the goals for the Saddlers, Brentford are a solid promotion contender so a draw at there place will be a good result. I think we might struggle against these lads. Tough test.

Also, Will Grigg doesn't have the same attitude as someone like Lee Hughes, who gets off on the abuse he gets from opposing supporters. Grigg is a little weasel who disappears up his own arse when fans get on his back, and is the reason he was largely anonymous when getting stick off our fans back in the day. He was so bitter about that, that when he came good he took to celebrating goals in front of empty seats where possible.
I think a good crunching tackle in the opening minutes by Butler accompanied by a chorus of colourful tributes from our supporters should see him fade into obscurity and not seriously bother us.

I think if he read this site that'd be the team talk done. Not sure why he would though - that'd be silly!

0-1 walsall... brentford get a peno in the 93rd minute , grigg hits the bar , its cleared up to milan who gets in the box , squares to westy who taps it into an empty net causing flares to be lit in the jubilant away end (the peno comes from butler head-butting grigg on the conk)

Callvelier has been given a squad number at Stoke,he is apparently part of Mark Hughes plans for a swift return to the championship.

2-1 to us.
Will Grigg can fudge right off.
Everyone in the stadium, including Will himself, to release he aint as good as he thinks he is (hopefully).

I hope Hughes fails to see the potential Sir. Could be the missing link for complete success.

My favourite away game of the season, always ends in utter fudge carnage.
0-0.
Probably wont remember the game but it shall always be known to me as 'Will Grigg away'.

Where would you fit him in our side? We already have to many players that play best in his best position. Baxendale for example is wasted out on the wing and would be far better in a central role, but we can't accommodate him there.
He is a great player, but football is more about getting a good balance to a team, I just can't see how we could fit him in without leaving out one of our other good players.

Re: Brentford (A) League One - 24 Aug 2013
A 1-0 defeat, in front of around 6,000, including 350 Saddlers. I can cope with this result as long as Grigg does not get the winner, but football tends to throw up scenarios like this from time to time, so it would not surprise me if that happens. The silver lining may be that it could add to his value.
I used to like Brentford, but the way some of their fans have tried to justify their clubs tactics over the transfer price and subsequent tribunal has really got on my nerves.
Up The Saddlers.

Hate that tune to sing too.
Reminds me of Chelsea and John Terry. Terrible song - should be banned.
