I'd hope the starting 11 is our strongest possible side and they play for 45/60 mins.

I'd like us to start with:

O'Donnell

A Chambers Downing Butler Taylor

Chambers Mantom

Baxendale Westcarr Lalkovic

Sawyers/Hewitt

Hewitt up top for me and play Sawyers where you have Westcarr. I think DS will try to get the most out of the game without taking any risks so close to Saturday. 2-1 vile for me, Hewitt with the goal infront of just over 7k.

Looks like a 4-2-3-1 with either Westcarr/Sawyers as the lone man upfront.

Subs: Lewis, Roberts, Hemmings, Mantom, J Chambers, Lalkovic, Hewitt, Flanagan, Holden, Heath, Downing, McQuilkin

If you can't get to the game it might be worth subscribing to Aston Villa T.V. http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/TV/LiveEvent ... 38,00.html for 4.99 a month direct debit then cancelling post game.

That's what I am doing. Now watching the coverage of the M6 waiting for the game to start!!

Very strong squad playing for Villa tonight, they will make a few changes at 60 minutes according to Twitter.

Villa XI - Steer, Vlaar, Baker, Bacuna, Luna, El Ahmadi, Delph, Agbonlahor, Burke, Benteke, Weimann

Villa XI 60 minutes onwards - Guzan, Lowton, Clarke, Lune, Westwood, Sylla, Agbonlahor, Herd, Benteke, Weimann

Baxendale tries to dribble past keeper after getting the ball right in front of goal... loses ball in feet and keeper gathers with ease.

0-2 half time.
We're getting stuffed (apart from a Baxi 1 on 1 that got caught under his feet)

Not sure that this is going to be a useful exercise

Could get a lot worse if we bring Holden on for the second half.

It's useful in the fact that it goes a long way to paying that fudge police bill.

Horrible to say, really.

Though meaningless of course, we are beginning to imagine what it's like being a turkey at Cringle!

Can't help thinking that the 'timing' of the match coupled with the stuffing we are suffering, won't go a long way in 'energy sapping' and 'negative confidence boosting' ahead of Saturdays opener.. :( mind you, the starting eleven wasn't particularly
the best available...I hope!

Glad I decided not to bother - plenty of cash for the police funds but not the best preparation for Saturday.

I'm surprised we did not start with our best XI. A morale sapping heavy defeat is not the best preparation for Saturday.

Still, it does not really matter, but I make this our 4th defeat in a row [if you include the additional friendly with Florist].

Would you want players picking up injuries tonight & miss Saturday? You'd then be saying why did we play our first xi so close to the start of the season

I'm not - wouldn't want too reveal too much to Tranmere scouts.

Also, it would be more demoralising if it was our first choice team that was getting stuffed.
