Crewe Alexandra (A) League One Sat 14 Sept, 3pm
Off we go to the railwaymen of Crewe on Saturday. They currently sit 17th place in the table having got five points from six games, and their goal difference is minus 7. Crewe's last six competitive matches have produced the following results:
Sep 7 League One Peterborough (H) drew 2-2
Sep 3 FL Trophy Accrington Stanley (H) won 1-0
Aug 31 League One Swindon Town (A) lost 0-5
Aug 24 League One Leyton Orient (A) lost 0-2
Aug 17 League One Tranmere Rovers (H) won 2-1
Aug 10 League One MK Dons (A) lost 0-1
Crewe's tradition of bringing on Youth players via their own academy system is well known, of course. It was widely broadcast that for their last game of last season (v Walsall) all eleven players had progressed from that start. Although they won 2-0 that day, some negativity appears to have been at work since then - their young manager Steve Davis is on record as wanting to remove the disruptive influence within the club's dressing room that has soured their start to the season. His words were "There's one or two need fishing out and are disrupting the togetherness of the squad". Now where else have we heard of that happening?
In the close season Davis was widely touted as successor to Dean Saunders at the Custard Bowl, but he made it clear that the poisoned chalice was not for him. He chose to stay at Crewe, where at present there seem to be "certain players are not pulling their weight".
We can win this one - I'll go for a 1-2 result, our goals coming from Troy Hewitt and Andy Butler.

Can't even remember the last time we beat them. Must be due a win soon.
4-1 to the Saddlers, everything to come together, sexy football with an end product at last.
Evo to spontaneously combust.

Not beaten em since 2001 WaW.
Crewe 0 Walsall 0. Crewe getting their 0 in the 7th minute of 2 mins stoppage time like normal. Arseholes.
FBIG to lead a sizeable away contingent in a rendition of the theme tune to Panorama on kazoo's to infuriate Dario Gradi.

Crewe to squeak a 1-0 like they always do.
Dario Gradi to be awarded the Fair Play Award and Most Gracious Loser Award by Daz Hale.
Cardiff to offer £2m to the soap on a rope in the showers, as it's a product of their youth set up.

Re: Crewe Alexandra (A) League One Sat 14 Sept, 3pm
Having had the dubious pleasure of the company of too many Crewe fans
on a dangerously overcrowded London Midland train after I'd been to the
Brentford game, (I was on my way to Manchester for my flight to HK,
they were coming back from the Orient) I hope we thrash them ....
5-0 :x
PS Maybe I'm being too harsh on Crewe. There was no trouble until some
Leicester fans forced their way into our carriage. Hope they lose too.

About time we beat Crewe.
PLEASE!
If we do, there will be one happy Saddler sat in the White Lion on the outskirts of Crewe on Saturday night!

Re: Crewe Alexandra (A) League One Sat 14 Sept, 3pm
30 minutes played, and familiar statistics:
Walsall have more possession (56%)
Both teams have had ONE shot (ours was at least on target)
4 or 5 fouls each........
Worryingly, Crewe have had 5 corners against our none!
Elsewhere, Wolves 1-0 up against Swindon
Jabo Ibehre scores to put Colchester 1-2 up at Bradford

Half-time 0-0, which has to be an improvement on the Preston performance......
Wolves 2-0
Edit: We're slipping down the table...now 14th, as Sloppies take the lead at Crawley and Oldham (ten men) go 1-2 up at Rotherham.

If we don't score in the next half hour or so.....Smith should go. Everybody can see we need a strikers?... If Bonser can't see Smith needs to be sacked if we can't score, then he's gorra gew.

Attendance 4,260
Guess which is the only game in League One still at 0-0??? I have a horrible feeling that it could end up as a dodgy 1-0 win, unsure which way... :?
