If the season lasted until August we would gain automatic promotion. Sorry, nice try but no cigar. Too many draws!!!!!! But it has been exciting for the right reason.

Major negative today ( a continuation of the Sheff Utd game ) : Brandy's wasteful finishing.
Potential major positive for next season : Brandy's wasteful finishing - probably gives us a better chance of keeping him.

He was unlucky at the end. When it came to him he did the right thing by cutting back inside rather than hitting it first time. Maybe he could have placed it better, but you have to credit the scunny goalie.
Disappointing to draw, but probably a fair result. Hope Scunthorpe go down mainly because of their perverse car park attendants who think those at the front of the queue shouldn't be allowed to leave first.

I think Smith got it wrong yesterday though. Why when we are 1 upand not chasing the game bring Baxendale on. Why didn't he bring Featherstone on and have Chambers as a holding midfeilder front of the back four ? In such an important game isn't it best to try and hold on to what you've got instead of looking for a 2nd.

Thought Paterson and Mantom? should've been a lot stronger in the lead up to their goal.
Couldn't believe it seeing us in the playoffs on the live league tables, so close.
We need to be Crewe fans on Tuesday. Sickening what a bit of glory can do to you. Sorry, Evo.
Three losses in five months.

Looking at Scunthorpe's equaliser, two factors came into mind....(1) Andy Taylor would probably have prevented the cross from coming in, and (2) Even if the cross had come in, Andy Butler would have been there to clear it........

Might need to score a few to win today methinks. Butler out is bad news
taylor and butler will be missed
They were, as their goal proved, in both positions.

Just seen the highlights - Brandy really did nowt wrong, good goalkeeping really. Mind you, he should have scored the goals to bury the blades last week.

Great day - the result was unfortunate. The game was really that brilliant either. But great day! :D

Felt like we lost when their goal went in and left the stadium feeling absolutely gutted when I saw that Swindon and Tranmere had both lost. So close! There is a faint, faint glimmer that Swindon could continue their poor form and us beat Bury and Crewe and we sneak in at 4:55 on the 27th but it's out of our hands now unfortunately...biggest Crewe fans on Tuesday though

Walsall fans gave up when they scored, instead if getting behind the team for the important last few minutes. Disappointing.

Indeed, it was a disappointing turn out overall anyway, good noise though.

Yes, I agree, but it was but a few minutes to the final whistle, and Scunny were pressing hard for a winner, the entire following were sooo gutted that we just didn't have any heart left in us. hardly appropriate moment to be raising the roof
in support when we had lost our spot in the play off's, we could all see it coming, that was the gut wrenching moment when our astonishing 'reborn' season all but disintigrated.
What DID disappoint me was the lack of applause for the team at the final whistle, it must be remembered that Scunny were fighting for thier Third Division existence, the team obviously didn't turn up on the day, Deano got the team selection wrong, but they did at least try, and there were times when we looked the part, particularly in attack....we just could not put the ball in the net....The Walsall F.C. 'bogey' that has hounded us throughout the years.
Nevertheless I am proud of the team/squad, proud to be a Saddler, and one day we WILL get to Wembley hopefully before I shuffle off this mortal coil!!
UTS for ever

Still..... Tranmere lost to Hartlepool, and Swindon lost at Sheffield United.
Leyton Orient meanwhile have crept up on the rails, and are level on points with us (our goal difference is better!!)
I'll be there next Saturday to witness the demolition of Bury :D
And Crawley have again

Just got to hope Swindon lose, or at best draw, and win our game Saturday, then we should be in with at least a chance on the last day. From the teams below MK Dons look the biggest threat, but it's a big ask of them to win the last 3. We still have a great chance if we can win our games I think that is going to be the hardest part of it all.

Patto should have had a penalty by looks of it.

Not quite sure where James Chambers was for their equaliser. We had Paterson and Mantom trying to defend in the left back position.
Hopefully Andy Taylor will be back for the last couple of games.

Possible penalty, but the chance that resulted of it for Westcarr was easier than a penalty, got to bury those.

They're the only team to do the double over us this season.

He should have at least hit the target.

Been too gutted to post until today, though tonights results have not helped in that department
But Scunny was a top day. Mossiv thanks to Ancient Moaner, top Saddler with a great attitude and sense of humour. If you ran coaches to away matches in the same way as you run lifts for random Belgians you would be rich
Thanks to whoever picked me up after we scored, and thanks to the apprentice for letting me give him a fat lip :D

Having seen the goals on TV - the equaliser was at the other end, this game should be referred to in perpetuity as 'free header Scunthorpe' :x

Thanx Belg, a great day out nevertheless, great company, with the zest of some amazing background history to your log in!
I'm still as gutted, even today, but still eagerly waiting Saturdays outcome of our, and numerous 'other' fixtures, could be a heart stopping afternoon, lets hope the season dow end tomorrow!
