Coventry City (H) League 1 Monday 1/4/13

For my sins, watched Donny v SwineTown on Sat. If Donny are running away to auto promo (very likely), this division really is very level: they weren't that much cop (but very determined). We have beaten them, of course, but in any case, I'd say we were just as good - better from a footballing point of view. Yes, we have nothing to fear from any team in this division. And we're a young team. Can only get better? (IF we can keep the core of the team!!).

I watched a fair bit of it before setting off for the game. If Doncaster am top of the league anyone could win it. They are awful.

Swindon were no better, they cant blame the pitch either. Okay so it wasnt exactly grass but at least theirs was flat unlike our school playing fields.

I saw them at the nearby Manchester Free Trade Hall in, I'm pretty sure, 1972, though it could have been 71.
I know drum solos are generally awful, an excuse for the rest of the band to wander off to do whatever they do off-stage, but that night there was an amazing one, with the drums linked through the synthesiser.
It must have been good for me to remember it, considering what I'd probably had to smoke.

In '73, I was two years old - hence me missing the gig.

I did see John McLoughlin at Manchester Free Trade Hall in about 1994 with Trilok Gurtu on drums. That was pretty special.

Apologies as this has nothing to do with Coventry game and this is very nerdish but I've just looked it up on Marmalade skies website and it was Oct 30th 1971 when I was living 10 minutes walk from Old Trafford, an experience which explains my life-long detestation of Man Utd.

I'd agree on your point about negativity, because until the latter part of this season, in my opinion, there was little to be positive about regarding the club (unless you're one of the happy clappers)

Basically, just the bit after the number two counts here. Stayaways bleat on here about Bonser and how they're never giving a shekel to him while in charge of the club. That's the belief and feelings bit. The contradiction comes when said stayaways go and watch, or attempt to watch a game at El Stadio Del Orgasmo while Bonser is in charge*

I didn't make up the word "hypocrite" to call the stayaways, all I did was use the word properly.

Our number one fan may well have taken us for a ride back in the day but I'd rather be Walsall right now than Coventry, Grimsby, Luton or any other club that splashed more cash than it could ever, ever afford chasing a dream. Our dream's getting closer. All stayaways should come home where they belong. Then they're not stayaways any more. Help the club instead of killing it.
