And we're a young team. Can only get better? (IF we can keep the core of the team!!).

I watched a fair bit of it before setting off for the game. If Doncaster am top of the league anyone could win it. They are awful.

You're right. Had we not endured "the run" we'd have romped the league. We are the best team in it at the moment despite playing on possibly the worst pitch. We can't scrub those 13 league games but it speaks volumes that we could have had such a run and still be in with a shout.

Swindon were no better, they cant blame the pitch either. Okay so it wasnt exactly grass but at least theirs was flat unlike our school playing fields.

Id take us over two legs against any of the top ten.

I saw them at the nearby Manchester Free Trade Hall in, I'm pretty sure, 1972, though it could have been 71.
I know drum solos are generally awful, an excuse for the rest of the band to wander off to do whatever they do off-stage, but that night there was an amazing one, with the drums linked through the synthesiser.
It must have been good for me to remember it, considering what I'd probably had to smoke.

Well jel.

If it was '73, Bill Bruford would be on drums. In '71 and '72 there were a couple of drummers who were equally outstanding.

In '73, I was two years old - hence me missing the gig.

I did see John McLoughlin at Manchester Free Trade Hall in about 1994 with Trilok Gurtu on drums. That was pretty special.

Apologies as this has nothing to do with Coventry game and this is very nerdish but I've just looked it up on Marmalade skies website and it was Oct 30th 1971 when I was living 10 minutes walk from Old Trafford, an experience which explains my life-long detestation of Man Utd.

I love this post on so many levels.

However, we probably need to metaphorically "get a room" for all this.

Meanwhile, Coventry = :grin::grin:

You missed my point or chose to.

I'll spell it out, If I found myself in a place where I deemed everyone around me to be 'morons' I wouldn't bother visiting again, yet you keep cropping up. I may only be a lurker but everytime I see a post from yourself it's normally tinged with negativity or hypocrisy, if we're lucky both.

[post moderated]

Let's look back.

People say "let's just forget about the history and reasons for the stayaways, right or wrong, and just all support the team, as they deserve it"

A few commented that the said stayaways would be hypocrites, or glory hunters.

Some reckoned that wouldn't happen, and the team is more important,

Despite this, I mentioned attending a game, and got called a hypocrite. Since then, I've been told I'm various other negative things, including apparently, that I like to turn every thread into a me, me, me one? Unsurprisingly by the usual sheep who like to think they are better than everyone else, and act like immature sheep, agreeing and disagreeing with each other on various subjects and threads. How immature.

I'd agree on your point about negativity, because until the latter part of this season, in my opinion, there was little to be positive about regarding the club (unless you're one of the happy clappers)

Your point about hypocrisy is a bit of a joke, and proof that you're just another little sheep trying to be part of the "gang".

[long post moderated - stop trying to avoid the language filter]

So please enlighten me how "my posts are usually tinged with hypocrisy"? I'll really look forward to hearing your reply as as I can't ever recall being hypocritical about anything else apart from the recent accusations?

- Stayaway says that they won't put money in Bonser's pockets or go to Bescot while he's chairman.

- Stayaway goes, or alludes to going to Bescot while Bonser is still chairman.

Main Entry: hyp·o·crite

Pronunciation: \ˈhi-pə-ˌkrit\

Function: noun

Etymology: Middle English ypocrite, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin hypocrita, from Greek hypokritēs actor, hypocrite, from hypokrinesthai

Date: 13th century

1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of or religion

2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings
— hypocrite adjective

Basically, just the bit after the number two counts here. Stayaways bleat on here about Bonser and how they're never giving a shekel to him while in charge of the club. That's the belief and feelings bit. The contradiction comes when said stayaways go and watch, or attempt to watch a game at El Stadio Del Orgasmo while Bonser is in charge*

I didn't make up the word "hypocrite" to call the stayaways, all I did was use the word properly.

* I have no love for Bonser, but I didn't let a chairman stop me watching the club I've grown up with.

What he said. By all means hate Bonser, but love Walsall. Getting the facts straight helps. Our number one fan may well have taken us for a ride back in the day but I'd rather be Walsall right now than Coventry, Grimsby, Luton or any other club that splashed more cash than it could ever, ever afford chasing a dream. Our dream's getting closer. All stayaways should come home where they belong. Then they're not stayaways any more. Help the club instead of killing it.

Getting as far as the supporters club doesn't count. That's pathetic, especially going on about it.

Multi-tasking? :D

I was able to write the post, iron the kimono and also had chance to look up MASSIVE ATTENTION-SEEKING HYPOCRITE in a dictionary.

Any plans to attend the Sheffield United game?

Perhaps hiring the Bonser TM blimp to watch the game from afar while simultaneously denying Bonser a single shred of financial aid.
