A great result and a 'Sunday Funday' for us.

That is now:

5 wins out of 6
Only 1 goal conceded in the last 3 - and that was in the 92nd minute.
12 goals in the last 6 games

It would be good to see 4,000 Saddlers there for Bournemouth next week. It should be a cracker.

I've just read the report on the Preston OS. They are saying it was a 'stone wall penalty' for them at 0-0 and that we then scored against the run of play. They then list a load of home chances giving the impression they dominated the game. I look forward to hearing from the 539 Saddlers to challenge that version of events.

Steve of UTS just on WM, talking absolute common sense. Tie these players down on contracts and get a keeper signed permanently - consistency and confidence are everything.

Great result today, and very well-deserved according to the WM commentary. Shame we conceded right at the end, but that's a minor point with 5 wins out of 6.

The consummate away performance. Brilliant work by Grigg, excellent finish by Brandy for the first; great cross by Purkiss, excellent header by Downing for the second; more good work by Grigg and a stunning finish by Baxendale for the third. Preston utterly outclassed even though they're a massive club.

New keeper looks good - cracking save from a freekick early in the second half when it was still 2-0 and generally looked assured. Easy to do player ratings today, I'd give every player an 8 - a real team performance. As a result, MOTM harder to call, back four very solid, Mantom and Chambers excellent, ditto Paterson and Brandy, Grigg got two assists and should have had one himself and Baxendale scored the pick of the lot.

Only disappointing performance was from new signing Jeff Bonser who refused to wave when politely asked to by the faithful.

Westley out!

Superb win by the lads. Form like this earlier on would have seen us in the top 3! In truth, I feel we were more than a bit unlucky not to have secured a few wins/extra draws during that dark, winless period: we certainly drew some games we should have won and everyone knows that. Now, we are looking like a confident team. If we can only sort our goalkeeper situation and make a good signing or two in the window - well, who knows? :D
PS Our negative goal difference now is just the 5 we shipped against Cooventry which was a very unusual result for us: we haven't been shipping goals, mainly just losing by the odd-un. Anyway.........

EXCELSIOR

What a fantastic win!
I'm overjoyed and even more so to hear about Westley's encounter with his own paying support - wonderful!
What a turn around from 0/16!

Apparently he was there today - hence the "give us a wave" chant. Swear I could see his silver demi-wave and suede car coat in the seats above the dugouts but as we were 3-0 up at the time I may have been hallucinating.

Fantastic result and performance by the sounds of it.
It would seem that the management have turned things around quite dramatically.
Credit where credit due to all concerned.

I quite like playing these friday night/sunday games. Can't we arrange more of them as they seem to suit us?

I've just had a lovely time ploughing through the match-day thread on one of the main pne-fans sites. For some reason they're not too happy with Graham Westley, and they also don't moderate their language.....

Comments like "Walsall are playing around with us (this at 0-3) now, and their fans are giving us the "ole!!" treatment."

Another memorable one was "Stuckmann (their goalkeeper) has been named Man of the Match - this tells you all you need to know about our performance".

There are times when I love being a Saddler......and where IS pnethor, anyway :?: :?: :?:

We were ace. As good an away performance as you'll see. Could've been many more. Brilliant, just brilliant.

Well done Dean and the lads.

In my experience, Preston fans are a decent lot. However, I like nothing better after a great away win than to look at the messageboards of the opposition, and today is no exception. I have every sympathy with the fans of a club where Risdale is involved and Westley is manager. Mind you, they should be used to agricultural football - they played quite a bit of it under their previous manager last season, and they did have the hideous John Beck in charge in the 80's.

Really wouldn't expect that from such a huge, massive club.
Some of the comments are a disgrace. If I ever read anything like that on here I wouldn't be back.
edit: ...and they REALLY didn't like the "olé's" from the away supporters when 0-3 down. So tone it down next time lads, eh?

PNE won 1 of last 11 league games, take it we were favourites for once.

Good result, must keep it going and get to that 50 asap.

Great result, and another side we've now done the double over. It seems Smith has found a system that works and players who thrive within that system.

Time to get some contracts extended.

Happy with that! Very impressive win. While you can only beat what's put in front of you, credit must go to manager and team for digging deep when it mattered and coming through a bad patch. We're the ones playing well and looking good now, so we make the other teams look worse than they are. Cracking!

Great win, BUT O'Kelly didn't give us a wave

Some decisions were fudge dire by the ref though, a Preston player literally caught the ball in the penalty area and it was waved away. Also, did the Preston fans make any noise at all other than the fudge annoying drum? It was like a library!
