Much chest beating from the inbreds of port fail so time to put them in their place with a surprisingly entertaining match high on goals and drama. 3-3 with us to win on pens !!
To be fair I wish we were away for this one . Always liked their ground and a good away end to make some noise. Will never forget Goodmans goal there right in front of us

I'm glad it's not away personally, wouldn't be able to go and it'd be a cack following with Shrewsbury on the Sunday.

I'm pretty sure that was the first game of the season, when we unleashed a really young team which played really exciting, attacking football. Sound familiar?

We got single handedly torn apart by a 40-year old David Eyres at Oldham the following weekend.

Great picture that. For the record, 6,270 Walsall supporters in an overall crowd of 8,225, our first home match back in 'Division 3' after our 2003/4 relegation. Our highest home league crowd for 2004/5, and an overall average of 6,081, even though we finished only 14th.

that game saw the emergence of young darryl taylor and leroy williams who both got on the score sheet, williams went to the family stand to greet his mother after scoring, was another one of those lovely hot opening day of the season games

Only 10 players starting?? That just highlights that we have a real need for a striker!
I guess we are resting Holden and that Chambers squared are still not near playing a game. :?

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa........

Add Grigg to the above list, although it's Cuvelier who has put the penalty away to give us a 1-0 lead !!!! :D

Half time, and it's still 1-0 to us, although Darlow kept us in it with "a brilliant save" (Sky) just before the break.

Elsewhere the Sloppies are now 0-2 down to Crewe (at home), and Preston are losing at Morecambe (hello Pnethor...)

Do I detect the faint aroma of sour grapes? If you really want to know, it was 3/6d and two pints of Banks's's's's's'.... :D

6?

Just like the amount of fans you get in every week

Congratulations, you scored a penalty that should not have been given in a million years totally against the run of play. Well done.

Shouldn't you be there? It's your cup final after all you clay head tosser.

We've got bigger fish to fry next week with Shrewsbury, in league one (you know, that big bad division you can't get back in)

It'd be nice but the 7000 mile round trip would be a bit silly.

Yes, cup final. Definitely.

Changes from last week, a proper penalty and bitter Vale fans unhappy in their cup final.

Survived a rough start. After 20 mins, the threat went dead. If we finish this half like the last, we'll be fine.

If.

2-0, Will Grigg on 47 minutes :D

It was from close range, so no doubt Mr. PortVale will be here in a minute claiming it was off-side...
