Doncaster Rovers (H) - 18/08/12 League 1
Well it's now upon us, in a few days the new League 1 season kicks off. Our first game against the recently relegated Doncaster Rovers.
Predictions?
Walsall win 2-1
Att: around 4.5k (1200-1500 away fans)
FWIW, looking on Donny messageboards, they weren't too optimistic about the season based on the squad they have assembled up to now.
New signing Rob Jones from Sheff Wed, scored 2 OG's in 2 games, what chance another one to help us out ;)

1-1 draw.
Fans to stop being negative and get down there to equal a minimum of 4,000 home fans, or me to be disappointed.

Ask to filter the word then, I've got the swear filter off so I'm not here to pick and choose what swear words I'll be using.

Yep probably will be under 4K home support because our fan base is soft still crying over last season's failure.

I reckon they'll be a bit better than Brentford.
2-2 draw. Grigg & Flo with our goals.

If we lump it to Grigg we'l lose. Their centre half partnering is going to be Rob Jones and Jamie McCombe - both 6ft6+ beasts in the air. Grigg wont win a header all afternoon. Hoping we can scrape a draw but I think they might have a little bit too much.
1-2 Doncaster. Cuvelier for us.

We didn't lump it up to Grigg on Saturday, so what's to say we will against Donny?
Nothing like a bit of positivity is there.

Walsall to win opening game 2-0
Grigg first scorer Pat last scorer.
After watching Brentford game got a really good feeling.

Doncaster have also signed Billy Paynter this week from Leeds United (undisclosed fee). Although Paynter didn't set the world on fire at Leeds, he did score 26 goals for Swindon in 2009/10.....I may amend my Week 1 prediction :?
If we adopt the style apparently shown against Brentford (still one of the fancied teams for high office this season) I'd like to think we can squeeze past Donny, say 2-1.

I've got a bad feeling about this one.
I hope I'm wrong but in my crystal ball I see a 1-3 or it could even be 1-4 scoreline.
Prove me wrong lads!!!

I'll take a 1-1 draw in front of 4,660, including 1,270 from Donny.

Walsall 2-0 Doncaster
The 1,500+ fans missing from our win against Brentford, will go home happy.
This will coincide with UTS's lowest ever logged in users, as Phil and co struggle to find a negative.

:)
Anyway, wisdom of crowds says 1-1 as it was the last time we played and the last home game I attended (Boxing Day 2008 IIRC)
Attendance will be 3,999 (Doncaster 1,001)

Us to go 1 - 0 down early in the first half. Grigg to be subbed soon after half time. Paterson to equalize and Hemmings to get the winner in the last 5 minutes.

Donny have sold 850 tickets in advance, expect a 1,000+ following from them then, so the attendance definitely won't be under 4K.

Re: Doncaster Rovers (H) - 18/08/12 League 1
I'm feeling less optimistic since I've heard that Donny have signed Billy Paynter. I hope for a win, think a draw is more likely, but fear a 3-1 defeat from this one, and Paynter could well be the spanner in the works for us.
A fair review by Neil on the front page, but for God's sake leave Jeremy Clarkson alone, he's got sod-all to do with football, and not everyone shares your hatred of the bloke - personally I think he's a great laugh and I could watch Top Gear all day.
