 What's the point in them confronting you when you're (I'm guessing) alone in McDonalds, obviously you don't know where any 'lad' is because the last thing you'd be doing is tucking into a Bacon Sizzler while tickling the end of your knob, even if you're kitted out in Casual gear it doesn't make you a hooligan, most aren't, just into the clothing. Real hard blokes though demanding answers from a lone lad eating.

Could make a film about this, kicking doors in lol, just have it off on an open field out of public areas you fackin nawteeeee caaaaaaaaaaants.

Wolves (H) - Friendly Saturday 28th July

Sat Jul 28, 2012 8:00 pm

The 'storming' from the Dingles was right comical. One puberty-shy little fella hopped the wall onto the touchline, realised none of his nawtee crew had bothered to follow him, so hopped straight back again. The rest ran down about 8 steps, threw their arms around a bit and then didn't really know what to do with themselves, so gladly retreated as soon as a lone copper calmly intervened.

Looks like the front line we have is the one we're going with.

Couldn't give a monkeys about some brain dead losers looking for a fight. Just wish they'd do it outside, not in the ground.

All in all, another friendly over.

We tried Paterson up top today, with Grigg whilst obviously there's Bowerman and Brandy as well. That said, Smith presumably wants another striker as otherwise he wouldn't be taking a look at Rudy Torres (?) nor Thomas Sowunmi, who has presumably been released having not featured in either friendly.

After doing some digging I have found out the reason why it kicked off. Before it started, their was banter between both sets of supporters. The usual chants towards Wolves and the usual replies. No harm intended, both took it in good spirit. Infact, both sets of supporters were chanting the same song and cheering on Dancing Kev! However, it did kick off, and this is the reason why.

As some know, a young lad called Tom Kirwan, a dedicated Wolves fan all his life, had his life taken away from him just 6 weeks ago. He got stabbed after a night out in Wolverhampton. Tom was, at times, a member of the Wolves Youth, but this was not all the time.

Some lads in the Walsall end by the Wolves Youth were chanting 'wheres ya Tommy gone?'. I will not call these Walsall fans as from what I've been told, they are not. Apparently they were lads looking for trouble who failed to turn up to a pre-arranged fight.

I do not agree with violence but if these lads get their heads caved in at some point, good. To mock someone who has lost their life is not acceptable. It obviously riled the Wolves fans and their reaction was expected. At the time I was sitting with Sadlad and Sam (not BigSam!) and we had no idea why it kicked off, but it provided up with some much needed entertainment for 10 minutes or so.

So in my eyes the Wolves Youth did not overreact. In fact, I reckon they didnt react in the way I'd of expected. I thought they took it quiet calmly at the time. When leaving the ground, a few coppers were escorting some lads from the ground. Presumably the lads from the Walsall end.

I just hope the Walsall fans dont get labelled for this. I hope it dont give us all a bad name because as far as I am aware, these were not Walsall fans.

Also been told in the last 15 minutes that it was a mix of WBA and Walsall 'fans', the word 'fan' been used very lightly.

tom died 3 weeks ago,my son knew him and was quite peed off when he heard the chant, good job his uncles got sent down last week or there could of been right shitte hit the fan,

Sound like a percentage of the youth (and uncles) of today needs culling....

Can we have a little more about the match: who played well, which of the trialists would be worth signing not really interested in who offered who out in McDs.

Ahh the Wolves game!! What does it really show us about our triallists and team? It is a game that is probably needed to boost the coffers but quite frankly doesn't really tell us much about the team apart from we would lose a lot of games if we were in the Championship, which we are not! I think we will find more out about the players against Kidderminster and Burton.

With regards to the triallists and apologies I am a little vague on names:

No 5 - Played 1st half at centre back and looked steady, then started the 2nd half at RB and didn't!
No 3 - I wasn't personnaly convinced but then we are comparign him against Sadler. To me he looks like a stop gap if we can't get Stewart, Parker, Jordan or anyone else!
James Chambers - I would look to get him signed up as I think he woudl be a good signing.
No 6 - Played CM and started well, had some neat touches and generally picked out a Walsall player. Did drift into the wilderness towards the end of the 1st half.
No 8 - Played RW but doesn't look like a natural wide man
Paul Downing - I think he is only 20, and considering we lost the 2nd half 1-0 compared to 2-0 in the 1st half maybe worth another look.
Ashley Sammons - Came on at start of 2nd half and looked tifey without being spectacular
Connor Taylor - It appears he has done enough over 2 games to be given a contract. Had one of our 2 really good chances in the 2nd half which he blazed over, but at least he got into the position. Another youngster who is worth a chance.
Rudy Torres - Started the 2nd half and put himself about with a coupel of neat touches. Worth another look over the next two games as I will expect us to show more going forward than against the Wolves or Albion.

Like I say, what do you really learn during games like this? We looked good on the ball at times and kept possession well, but had minimal attacking threat from midfield. This will hopefully right itself when we move towards starting with what our likely line up will be....I hope! :)

In terms of the trialists I felt that

James Chambers looked a tidy right back generally did his job and strung together some nice short passes I feel he could do a good job for us and it amused me that my mate didn't realise his brother was playing because they look just like one another :D

Nicky Featherstone played in CM for the first half had a real nice passing game and seemed to be quick enough and really put himself about, I didn't see him do to many tackles but looked a good attacking midfielder to me.

Connor Taylor was a pretty quick player who had 2 of our very few chances and came very close with his first, I think over the 2 games he has earnt a good deal and has potential for the future.

Peter Gilbert played LB I personally am not sure about him from this game didn't do anything to wrong other then backing off a little to much at times but didn't really look that great either an OK player.

Number 8 (Baxendale I think) did very little on the wing really but did link up reasonably well at times he did not look like a natural wide man though.

Ben Purkiss did OK at CB not spectacular but certainly not the worst though the 1 goal came because he and Butler switched positions and then Butler completely missed the header for nouble to score.

1st half was nice to see good passing possession from us but unfortunately there was nothing going forward in the 1st half team other then the odd half chance.
2nd half attacking wise I think we looked better Taylor had his shots and Hemmings had that great chance 2 minutes from the end but the overall play in the second wasn't as strong I thought but maybe that was a bit of nerves after having two scored against them in the first half.

Overall it wasn't the disaster the facebook page makes it out to be but certainly wasn't us at our best but I would rather we loose in the pre season then in the cup and league it's all just a glorified kick about to get the club some cash anyway really.

Thanks for the updates boys - I wasn't able to make it yesterday and some first-hand reports like these help when trying to understand whether the trialists are any good. Sounds like it's a bit of a mixed bag and so I hope that Deano has a few others he's looking at.

I recall reading about that, at great length, at the expense of reading anything about the game in the match thread. What some little scrotes with no interest in football but with huge chips on their shoulders about their sad little lives and geographical issues say has no bearing on my football club. When they bring their ignorance, their stupidity and their prejudice to games, it annoys me. If therer is any inkling of trouble at a Walsall football match at the Banks's stadium, the police will do everything in their power to make my club pay more for an unnecessary police presence.

If some sad little wasters who bathe in reservoirs because they can't afford hot water on their dole payments and have sold the pipework in their council houses to buy more drugs affect my football club that concerns me. The sad little tosspots can get lost as far as I'm concerned. They're not fans, and their fighting is not done in the name of my club. This is the match reports and reactions thread, and i do not want to hear about losers whose goal in life is to try and arrange a meet up with some other losers, bottle it, then pretend they meant to support football all along. If you know any of them, tell them to fudge off. They ain't Walsall fans, they're pathetic.

I will happily moderate anything posted in this forum that pretends to justify the existence of people like this. If they want a forum, I recall some pathetic attempt started by Walsall Yoof some time ago, complete with some hilarious video footage uploaded of loads of spotty little idiots walking along with scarves over their faces as if it impedes police image recognition software.

maybe kerching, but it was clearly evident that even the wolves have figured out that it aint worth the effort as the numbers were to me significantly down on the last few times we have played them, i agree with darth that in order to keep this game as "kerching" we should look to leave them out and replace them with some other local team.

I won't be there, but I applaud the club for arranging another friendly which is about as lucrative as we could realistically get.

4,000 Dingles eh? That's why (from their standard) they took a pee poor following, 2,180.Loads of empty seats in the away section.

£24,000+ for a game where we have nearly as many trialists as players...

Kerching!

maybe kerching, but it was clearly evident that even the wolves have figured out that it aint worth the effort as the numbers were to me significantly down on the last few times we have played them, i agree with darth that in order to keep this game as "kerching" we should look to leave them out and replace them with some other local team.

We should, but if it's making a profit, then get them in. It's a friendly, however much you wish it so, it ay for your entertainment.

im not asking for entertainment, i think you took my comment the wrong way, i am agreeing there is a need for theese cash injection games but look at the decrease in bums on seats in not only the wolves end but our own aswell and you wil see that our profit margin for this game will have decreased an awful lot, i wouldnt risk have it slashed again by playing the same game next year, i would get another big local club to come on down as football fans are fickle and if they havent been somewhere for a couple of years then it seems more of a need to go.

Is it starting to click with anyone that falling attendance are down to people being broke as much as anything else? Not Bonser, not Steve Morgan, not Dean Smith or Stale Breadakken, or dull football, just people wanting to spend money on something more important instead.
