Huddersfield Town (H) League 1 Saturday 28/4/12.

Sat Apr 21, 2012 7:45 pm

Two things we can hope for , our visitors already assured of a play off place will rest a few keys players for the vital clash , or as so often as we have this season we find our form against the leagues better clubs , having said that Huddersfield come here in indifferent form winning two and losing 4 of their last 6 games.

Carlisle - away - lost 1-2
Orient - away - won 3-1
Sheff Wed - home - lost 0-2
Bournemouth - away - lost 0-2
Preston - away - lost 0-1
Scunthorpe - home - won 1-0

Full away record

won 7 - drew 11 - lost 4 - goals for 43 - against 27

Prediction 1-1 draw .

Other vital games

Wycombe - Notts County
Carlisle - Exeter
Yeovil - Chesterfield
Hartlepool - Orient

Udders reserves to whallop us 3-0 but us to stay up cuz all the other teams get 3 men sent off, score 5 own goals and get 10 points deducted for financial regularities.

Table looking like this:
Code: Select all
Team          | Pl | GD  | Pts

Chesterfield  | 45 | -23 | 42
Exeter        | 45 | -28 | 41

5-0? If the other results go like that, I don't care what our result is. I'll settle for 4-0 ;-)

You REALLY believe that we will beat Huddersfield? though they are utterly crud at the moment, as thier own fans will atest, (they are IN the play off's but will lose in 'em again) WE will let 'em win this one.......by surrendering, we're getting so good at this we could win an award!!

Crowd (or should I say an extensive gathering) will be closer to 3,300 still including the 1145 Yorkshiremen
1-3..... we to score first as usual just to get us prematurely excited. (own goal of course)
Smith puts Grof and Walker up front, Nichols in goal, subs Ledesma, Cuvelier & Mantom after 10 minutes and joins the fans in the F2G lower for a conga screaming "we are gewin down, say we am gewin down"!! :) :)

1-1 with a late Ledesma equaliser.

Crowd 4,657 with 950 and a dog from Huddersfield.

Wycombe 2 notts county 3

Carlisle 2 Exeter 1

BUT

Yeovil 1 Chesterfield 2 takes us to a nail biting last day whereby we need a point at MK or pray that Chesterfield don't beat a Brentford already on holiday. Which is a bit of a grim scenario.

Indeed, DV. I'm usually quite pessimistic on our crowds, but we will get 5,200ish for this one, including 900 Udders. Still crap, but better than normal for obvious reasons.

The game may be VERY important for all of US, but remember, this Walsall folk (mostly Dingle fans, unless that is, we are playing Liverpool or Manure at home in an FA cup match!), apathetic and miserable to the last, what makes anyone think that even a few dozen extra fans might get up off thier tepid backsides, to support our Towns football team in order to try to avoid relegation to the Fourth Division? Most, like Mr. Bonser, don't even know what division Walsall F.C. play in! (or indeed care)
In view of our appalling home support I think our away followings are very encouraging, which goes to show what a strong 'core' of support that luckily, we DO have.

Strange, cos our home support is pretty much what it always has been, when we are struggling at the bottom of division 3. (Feel free to go away and check) Where as our away followings are definitely down, and pretty embarrassing at times these days.

I've not been to many home matches this season regrettably, but have found the home 'support' to be pretty miserable on the whole. Whereas, at away gatherings (where I can attend) though small in number possibly, are usually in good voice, and make themselves heard..and have also tended to amuse home supporters, as atested by the home clubs own sites afterwards.
I can remember one home match inparticular, making a 'rousing' appeal for 'more effort' from the lads, the surrounding fans looked towards me in abject dissaproval, as if I'd broken into thier homes at Christmas and pithed on thier kids!!..and this was in F2G (or bugga knows what it's called now) middle!! :(

I don't do pessimism as a rule, but here goes:

Walsall 0 Huddersfield 4

I'm away at the weekend so hope that I am so wrong it's untrue and that our trip to the Dongs on the last day can be a lovely party!

Fair enough, got the wrong end of the stick then. Sorry.

The main reason for the noisy away followings , is almost certainly based on the amount of ale that has been consumed.

Our own fault if we do go down, we've ballsed it up too many time, will be gutted though, especially if Shrewsbury come up.

I know , it's been annoying the hell out of me ...maybe am being pessimistic but I'd put it about 50/50 whether it's us or Chesterfield.

I do not think however , in retrospect, that it is realistic that a dog will be in attendance.

A pitch like a pudding will result in aerial borefest with a scrappy 1-0 win.

Tinned to tango across the pitch with Dancing Kev at half time. Jeff Bonser cuts in on him and takes Kev back to Cyprus as his personal enforcer to spit at people through the gates at the landside entrance to his undersea lair.

Walsall 2-2 Huddersfield

Walsall to get a last minute equaliser, the crowd to invade the pitch at the final whistle.
Until they realise that Chesterfield's game has been delayed due to goalmouth congestion and they score 18 goals in added time.
Walsall fans to sit back down in an orderly fashion.

Then it's Dongles or bust.

Yeah, was meant to be on the love bus, but Mrs Blazing want's to come, and demand for the bus is to high. So we are on the train. Only £13.50 return anyway. Bargain.
