Tries a trick every single time he gets the ball when something simple would actually be ample for the team. Doesn't really look a threat when it comes to wing play. He does the exact same trick to try and go round the full back every time and usually loses it - that and the fact he has that arrogant 'im too good for you' kind of look to his play means he generally frustrating most fans more than he pleases them. I prefeer Nicholls, Paterson or Hurst wide instead of him.

Gnapka in my opinion is our worse player and Smiths worse signing. I wasn't impressed what I saw in his first few games for the club and said so at the time. Hoping he would settle in I think he has probably gone backwards since his rather unimpressive start. He offers nothing to the team and neglects is defensive duties consistantly.

Is he on a 1 year or 2 year contract?

A few observations:
Disappointed with Charlton, who seemed to have two tactics - the long ball and the long throw. No wonder their away support is low - that isn't the sort of football they have been used to in the past!
People around me were moaning when Paterson was taken off (the bloke behind me said "Smith doesn't think like a Manager") Like Sadders, however, I thought he looked spent at that point and it was the right decision.
Sadler was definately sent off for a second yellow.

Totally agree, Patterson did well, but was ready for a change - though I would have stuck Nicholls up front at that point.

Manny was outstanding.
Chambers had the best game I've seen from him since August.
Someone needs to work on Knacker's decision-making (ie. get him to make one, rather than dithering on the ball until someone takes it off him).

Can't say I was enormously impressed with the Cheating-Cockney-Whining-Premiership-wannabee-Diving-Cockney Tar-spots.
Normally when we're playing this type of team, the difference in individual skill is obvious. In this case however, some of their hoofs out of defence were positively 'roperesque'.

Of particular note:

Their number thirty-odd who suffered major head-trauma in the first half and remained prone on the ground while Walsall mounted an attack - only to get up without apparent ill-effect when he realised none of the other players had noticed.

Their long-throw specialist who encroached onto the pitch at least 6" every time he took a throw.

Their number 5 steaming towards the linesman to dispute a second half throw-in award, only to find himself hilariously, 15 yards out of position as Walsall took the throw quickly (oh, how I wish we'd scored from that!)

The keeper chasing after the referee whinging "Mr Ref! Mr Ref! He kicked the ball away Mr Ref! That one over there Mr Ref. Aren't you going to book him Mr Ref?", in a high-pitched, whiny, teacher's-pet sort of voice. (maybe I'm paraphrasing here).

I assume they're actually better than that in real life - perhaps it was too close to the North Pole for them...

Good performance, could have won in the end with a bit more composure (although so could they). As stated Charltons only tactics were a long ball for a flick on in behind the defence and a long throw. why then Dean Smith persisted with Lancashire who cant win a header if an opposition player is within 5 foot of him really dont know. All Butler would have had to do was stand there and head it away for 90 mins, and if hes fit enough for the bench...

Walker: couple of good stops but not too busy. needs to come off his line a bit more to cut off through balls, im sure this used to be one of his strengths although he's put on a few pounds since then!
Sadler: very good performance and had to make the tackle for his second yellow. first yellow was stupoid though as although the guy was on the edge of the box Sadler had no chance of getting the ball and another player was covering.
Beevers: ok, positional sense is very hit and miss and needs to stop more crosses coming in. Would be helped in this if he got more support which with playing two defensive mids he should do.
Lancashire: a CB who never wins a contested header. I really cant get my head around this esspecially in our league where so much is played in the air and i really cant see how Smith can't see it is a problem. He doesnt attack the ball so the Striker ALWAYS gets there first. either teach him how to attack a ball or get rid as it is the cause of a lot of our defensive problems at the moment.
Smith: Awsome, back to how he was 4 or so years ago. my mate came along who is a Villa fan and kept commenting how good smith was. He normally just ridicules our players!
Halliday: didnt do much but he seems to be looking around for a short pass all the time. maybe he needs to get used to out level of football (although he did play in Scotland!)
Nicholls: needs the ball to feet higher up the pitch. didnt get this so wasnt effective
Chambers: did teh dirty work well an dsupported when he can. Hard to kjuidge when playing with Taundry.
Taundry: usual headless chicken self, works hard but just plain not good enough. tried to set them up for a winner a few times and normally either turns into trouble or a poorly executed pass. Makes me worry when Smith continually picks him over peiterlin who will help us to keep the ball better and link up play complementing Chambers industry.
Macken: Held the ball up well but still doesnt look fit. We need his experience and knack for getting a goal.
Paterson: I liked him given a free role off Macken. Looked dangerous although not as quick as he looks like he should be, needs to bulk up a bit as he gets older to complemet his nippyness.

Subs:
Bowerman: shot form 20 yards when he should have passed or taken it on but causes problems and confident.
Gnapka: Awful first 10 mins but grew into the game and could have scored after a good run. Makes the wrong decision too often. ie: shooting from 30 yards instead of passing to Bowerman (?) near the end.
Peterlin: not given enough time to influence game, but shows hes always thinking and trying to get us playing (ie: the quick throw he tried to take just after he had come on)

Sadler's tackle was brilliant, no mincing about like a softy. Bang. Point won.
