Goal Log
20 minutes - 1-0 - Griffiths scrambles the ball home.
31 minutes - 2-0 - repeat of first goal
The young Saddlers cruised to a victory which was much more convincing than the scoreline suggests. Only a lot of wayward finishing by the home side stopped this being a complete rout although it must be said that the Mariners' diminutive 'keeper, Liam Higton, made some outstanding saves, unlike his opposite number who did not have a shot to face, all evening. This should have been a double figures victory, so extensive was the Walsall domination.
Looking for future prospects, the team played neat constructive football with cultured midfield build-up, mostly passing to players in red shirts - so they're clearly not ready for the first team style yet!
One player who caught my eye tonight was our ginger no. 4, Reece Flanagan (must be Irish, with that name and hair! :D ). He looked, and played, like Paul Scholes, hardly wasting a ball - definitely one to watch.

Three goalkeepers in the same game, all called Liam - now there's something you don't see very often!!
Thanks for the report though Pedders, it's good to know that talent is being nurtured.

I dont know if you read his profile on the official site Ped, but Reece describes Paul Scholes as a big influence on his game because of Scholes's passing ability. He also takes the opportunity to mention the ginger hair they have in common

That's disgusting! What if they want to have kids later on in life?
