Lancashire is no good against big strong attackers, but has better distribution. If they have two big guys up front Deano will go for Mannie. Otherwise he'll go for Ollie.

Butler sent off.... 1-0 down, penalty.

.... which puts us a single point above the relegation zone.

He must have been chasing the player back. Game over, season over.

1-0 down, as expected, 10 men game over, season over, relegation battle here we come again, getting irritating now, when will anything go right for us again? Think Deano might be on thin ice if this appalling run continues.......

Not awful, but substandard certainly.

Perhaps the fact Lancashire can't defend? His positional sense is awful, worse than Smith.

You just have a downer on Smith because he was poor last season. He hasn't been this.

Nope. I just think that the only thing Manny Smith can do is head a football that's coming his way. For me, that's not enough. As for positioning, he's atrocious. I put some of his pre-season howlers down to (a) it being pre-season and players are rusty and (b) sometimes the oppo were half-decent (e.g. the same ball destroying him twice against Wolves). But he's still often found wanting positionally (but has a bit of pace to sometimes recover) and his holding of the defensive line is poor. I frequently see him playing strikers on side. He may have shown early promise in his career and appeared to have 'gone backwards' under Hutchings, but some players don't go backwards, they just don't develop beyond mediocre.

I'm going to go all philthesaddler now and speculate that Manny Smith won't be playing at this level or higher when he leaves us.

EDIT - I binned my initial reply as unduly dismissive and strident.

Wouldn't have picked Smith ahead of Lancashire. Wouldn't have signed Beavers let alone play him. Wouldn't play Taundry and Chambers together in midfeild. Wouldn't play hoofball, want me to continue ?

True, doesn't help that all his in his pack are low value cards in the first place though eh?

Yes, but a 30 yarder going where?

With nine minutes to go, we haven't had a single attempt on target. Colchester could have played with eleven outfield players for this game..........

So he's taken Patterson, Macken and Grigg off? Is he playing for a 1-0 defeat?
