Perhaps Deano HAS unearthed a gem.....a sort of old fashioned Centre Forward, who might be a bit lumbering, not very clever footballer, but will score goals, surely this is what we have been waiting for, a striker who can score goals!!

Now, what time is my next pill, have I been sleep waffeling again? :)

Full time: 2-1 ! :D

Seems from the commentary that we dominated the first half but were poor second half.

Thank god we are through!

Will be interesting to see the match reports from those there.

I'll take the win. What happens next when you win in these cup competitions? Do we get a prize? :D

Just got back. We were good in the first half, and poor in the second but credit to the Filth they did pass it around nicely at time in the second. We resorted to a bit of hoof and the ball generally came straight back. We got tired chasing them trying to get the ball back but they looked a bit sharper as the game wore on. Bit worrying that some players look tired after 70 mins. It was a stonewall penalty, tangle of legs really. The bar didnt half wobble. Jarvis had a good solid game today but his first touch could be better. His goal was ridiculous. Perfect strike. Taundrys wasnt far off being better.

Grof made some some great saves and had no chance with the goal, which was unfortunate. The ball goes anywhere when those crosses come in. I thought that really spurred the filth on a bit. Ref let everything go really, refused to book anyone. Taundry got MOTM, i thought he was good but MOTM was pushing it.

Richards was average, i thought he was gonna bang that free kick in though, but he reverted back to his wasteful self after a good period. Mark Wright missed a sitter, which amused me greatly. Tried to curl it in and it ended nearer the corner flag.

Our defence kept a shape, albeit a tired one. And we soaked it up a bit, although if you were a filth fan you would be dissapointed not to take it to pens.

Grof - Solid, lost one cross but looks a good keeper.
WEstlake - Solid, a few slips that he got away with though. I rate him.
Smith - Solid, my MOTM, he coped with that Morgan fella who was huge, and Smith had the pace on more than one occasion to make the tackle, Lancashire would have been dust. Id keep him in for next week.
Butler- Solid, topped off his head in the net which was unlucky.
Sadler - Quality full back he is.

Hurst- I wish he wasnt so slow. But he is a good player, but another one who tired. Tricky because he can use both feet.
Taundry - A few tackles he got away with, but improving every game. Cracker of a goal.
Chambers - Seemed to pull out of a few tackles, not suprising really but did his job well.
Gnakpa - Won headers again all night, he needs confidence to knock it past a defender and run. Because he can actually dink a good ball in too.

Jarvis - Cracking first half, a proper target man. Yet some morons still heckled him. Lost his way in the second but was chasing things, made a few good challenges and i thought linked up nicely in the first. Poor penalty but a superb strike in the first. Some moron even said "why is he taking the penalty!?" - errr. In the end the moron was happy he missed.
Nicholls - Now for me, he had great game. He nearly scored in the first half by falling over. He should have put it away. But today he was a fantastic outlet, because if he didnt have a pass on he just ran with it. Thats all ive ever wanted him to do. He's really got speed when he is on his way, won the penalty by himself. I wanted him to score today. Ran his socks off too.

Subs

Peterlin - On for last ten minutes, didnt notice him much.
Beevers - Came on in midfield? More of a time waster than anything.

No pies at half time. Rubbish.

Just got back - excellent and exciting game! Fans were vocal all the way through, Sloppies silent. Two fantastic goals from us and we even scored for them. A bit of pressure on the defence as we seemed to be too deep but defended stoutly and saw them off. Richards got a mauling from the crowd, Wright was respected. Both were pretty poor, especially the baldy - who must have loved the "that's the Richards we all know" as his hopeless free-kick and various passes sailed into touch.

Like a blast from the past that was - good old Bescot days of yore! :D

Eat that Sloppies..... "we'll meet again, don't know where........."

"SOLID" SEEMS TO BE THE ADJECTIVE OF THE NIGHT. :D
Lovely to win a cup game at last - and there's the effect of the "winning habit" mentality which should not be under-estimated!
:D :D
