I find it odd that so many of you think a goalscoring midfielder will be easy to find...well name me some who we can afford! As for AM all players have bad games from time to time especially at our level but ,of course,i forgot you know more than our Manager and indeed the Managers of the clubs seeking his signature. As for the others Cuvelier and Gobourne are injury prone, the lad from Kiddy is untested . In fact the only one I would consider is Ledesma but he would be a replacement for Sawyers rather than Mantom.

Your confusing me with Soundy (who is god in disguise) Walsallone, I know bugga all about football management, in fact when I ran my Company's football team I sent 'em to an away fixture when we were at home!!  Got fined £25 for our troubles, was a typing error when we issued the fixture list to the team! (and we finished bottom!)
I 'have' been a Ref at grade 3 level, but much prefer just watching.
I personally would love Ledesma to come back, but on the back of Jordy's not very successful return, could be a tricky test of Whtiney's ideas for the forthcoming squad formation.
We must get used to the inevitability that most of our skeletal squad will be off to pastures new, so worrying about "who killed who" etc is a waste of time, it's over, let's move on.

How about Dan Burn? Released from Fulham, seem to recall him being at Yeovil on loan a few seasons back and being decent

Jon Whitney said that he wants to bring Jordy Hiwula back to the club as Huddersfield has been said to be open to selling him.

I though they spent big money to bring him in from City but actually it was only £150k, this makes signing him a lot more realistic for us as I doubt they would want any decent sized bid for him.

I know he wasn't particularily impressive in his second loan spell and that people want us to stop going back for former players... but this could be a really shrewd piece of business. If we get him in, give him a pre season and consistent football (in place of Bradshaw's inevitable sale) we genuinely could get him back to his first loan spell form. He's still young and has scored goals in this division and I'd snap Huddersfield's hand off. That first loan spell wasn't a fluke. I found the most disappointing thing about him last season was that he just wasn't clinical enough. The amount of times he got into a good position and then dragged the shot straight at the keeper was frustrating - but a clinical nature is something that confidence can bring back.

Also it would really show that we really have changed. Going out and spending a small fee to bring in a young striker with a high ceiling but that isn't a finished product is a huge improvement over signing Troy Hewitt, Ryan Jarvis, Manset etc...

But that's just me, I know others wouldn't want us to keep going back for former players but I'm the complete opposite.

if we don't grab him then burton might and hell score goals in league 1

2k a week plus 1k a goal seems reasonable, but couldn't see him coming back here

but id try and get fryatt back as he will score goals at this level.

if deeney gets sold then use even if bonser put 1 million quid extra in would get us 4/5 quality league 1 players or season long loans

Wasn't Merson on about £10,000 a week when we took him? But his patent club paid £7,000 with us putting the rest?

Not a rumour but since we expect Demetriou to leave we will need a new right back.

Barnsley have just released George Williams, he is a 23 year old full back who can play on either side. When put into the Barnsley side their stats were 17 wins 6 draws 1 loss and he scored the goal to send them into the play offs - yet he has been released. Surely this is someone we should definitely be looking at to replace Demetriou?

Lets hope this is not the usual 'fairytale' E & S reporting, would be a great acquisition, (hoping that pork scratchings are acceptable for a fee! ) would be a good start for a new squad build up following the loss of most of our first team.

Let's hope it is  He's hardly kicked a ball since he left us. I would rather not keep going back to the same players, it rarely works.

Brandy, Cook, Lalkovic - hardly set the world alight second time around.

Some players did better on their return, Ledesma was much better in their second. Cuvelier was just as good even if the amount of goals was slightly worse, he did also get kicked a lot by the opposition though. I remember Bury away in particular where they absolutely did a number on him and injured him for a month because they couldn't deal with him and had to give him a good kicking. Also some people seem to be forgetting how bad Lalkovic was in the first part of his loan spell. I remember Orient away in particular when he tried to beat the full back and ended up crashing into a bloke with a camera just off the pitch - awful. He managed 6 goals in that spell and in this spell he managed 8. Personally I think he did much better in his second spell.

It's just not so black and white that former players returning always do worse.

Thank goodness for that JOHNNY...Flo has played just 22 games since he left us in 2012!!! He is a good player but we need players in our squad who are fit!! I know Whitney is great with injured players but I think this is one signing we don't want.

Said before I'd take him (and Ledesma) back but madness if you then assume he'd be a first choice given his injury record....could easily be another Osbourne situation.

He can do way better than that, surprised Brentford didn't go in for him on a free.

Even Charlton who seem to be spending big already.

Actually I didn't as I thought they'd leave the news of Erhun's signing until midday - sorry.

Jim O'Brien has gone and signed for 2-years at Shrewsbury. That's two of their recent signings I am now lusting after.

I'd read that O'Brien wanted a return north, surprised he's signed on in Shropshire. Thought he'd fit in our midfield nicely, plus he can ping free kicks. Suppose we have our pocket rocket for that now. Shame, always thought he was one of League One's regular good performers.

Thought Sloppies had one of the lowest budgets in the league, on 5k average aswell. Where is all this extra dough coming from?
